Myrtle Beach F.A.M.E. Festival to Showcase Art & Music


Myrtle Beach is hosting its 1st Annual F.A.M.E. (Food, Art, Music & Entertainment) Festival on Saturday, April 24, 2010. The festival will be held on historic Broadway Street between 4th & 6th Avenues North from 10am-10pm.

The festival is FREE to attendees.

There will be a variety of art available for purchase, including paintings, photographs, pottery, sculpture, jewelry and various other pieces.

Entertainment for the F.A.M.E. Festival includes musicians, vocalists and dancers. Gabbie Rae, My Buddy Todd and Area 51 will all perform. Break dancers, shag dancers, tap dancers, mimes and stilt walkers will all be on hand to add excitement to festival.

Area restaurants will also be serving food and beverages to attendees.

The Myrtle Beach F.A.M.E. Festival will benefit the Myrtle Beach area, with all proceeds going to local Myrtle Beach charities.

Broadway at the Beach Adds 17 New Stores & Eateries

Broadway at the Beach, the premier shopping, dining and entertainment complex in Myrtle Beach, is adding 17 new vendors to its complex.

The new additions include Ron Jon Surf Shop, Wet Willie’s, Sanibel Sunglass Company, Sport Fanatics, Sharkey’s Bar and Grill, Pizza Hut Express, Vintage House, State Fair, Euphoria, Mason’s at the Beach, Xcell Wireless Technology & Accessories, Baja Bistro, Tervis Tumbler and Zhedo Fashions. All of these stores are planned to open between April and July 2010.

In March, Broadway at the Beach announced the addition of a zip line ride that will go across Lake Broadway, spanning 500 feet back and forth. A three-story ropes course, featuring 20 different obstacles and activities, will also open this summer.

Memorial Day Weekend Heats Up in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach has a lot to celebrate in the month of May. MayFest, an all-new event featuring a variety of family-friendly festivals, will be presented all month long. Plus, the MayFest event will end with a spectacular Memorial Day Weekend Celebration on Saturday, May 29, 2010.

The Memorial Day Weekend Celebration in Myrtle Beach will be held at the former Myrtle Square Mall site on Kings Hwy between 23rd & 27th Avenue North. The hours of the event are from 2pm-10pm. The event is FREE to the public.

A free concert with American Idol’s sixth season winner, Jordin Sparks, is planned, along with performances by Mitchell Musso from Hannah Montana, Savannah Outen from Disney Radio, Drake Bell from Drake & Josh and Jasmine Richards from Camp Rock. Special celebrity meet and greets with Nathan Kress of “iCarly,” Savannah Outen of “Hannah Montana,” Jasmine Richards of “Camp Rock,” Drake Bell of “Drake and Josh,” Tiffany Thornton of “Sonny with a Chance” and Debby Ryan of “Suite Life on Deck” will also be part of the Memorial Day Weekend Celebration.

A Memorial Day Parade will take place at 10:30am on May 29. The parade will start at 27th Avenue North and end at 9th Avenue North. More than 25 parade floats, eight giant helium balloon characters, marching and military bands, beauty queens, dignitaries and more are expected to participate in the parade. The Celebrity Grand Marshall will be Buzz Aldrin, the NASA Astronaut and current Dancing with the Stars performer.

MayFest in Myrtle Beach Features Four Festivals for Visitors to Enjoy

Myrtle Beach is heating things up this summer with an all-new MayFest celebration. There are four events marking the celebration, all of which promise fun for those of all ages. The official inauguration of Myrtle Beach’s first ever oceanfront boardwalk will also take place during MayFest. The month of May promises to be a fun-filled one, with plenty of things to do in Myrtle Beach.

The first event scheduled for MayFest is the Arts & Film Celebration on May 1. The Arts & Film Festival will take place from 10am-10pm on May 1. Blues musician Buddy Guy will perform and meet and greets with actors Alex Meraz of “Twilight” and Catherine Bell of the TV show “Army Wives” are planned. Outdoor movies, food, arts & crafts vendors, fireworks and R & B and Jazz Bands will all be available for visitors to enjoy.

The next event planned for MayFest in Myrtle Beach is the Beach Music Festival, which is when the city of Myrtle Beach will officially unveil its brand-new, mile-long oceanfront boardwalk. The Beach Music Festival will be held Saturday, May 15, from 10am-10pm, on Ocean Boulevard between 8th Avenue North and 9th Avenue North. The official time for the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new boardwalk is at noon. The family-friendly festival is completely free and will kick-off the summer season in Myrtle Beach. It will feature eight regional bands playing on two stages, a national shag dance completion and TLC’s “Cake Boss” will be on hand to create a large flip-flop cake.

The line-up of performers include Ben E. King, Bill Scott & the Party Prophets, Chairmen of the Board, The Coasters, The Embers, Jim Quick & Coastline, Mark Roberts and Breeze & Maurice Williams and The Zodiacs

The festival will also include a fireworks finale, beer, food, arts and crafts.

Art & Film Festivals Come to Myrtle Beach

An Arts & Film Festival will make its way to Myrtle Beach on May 1st for a celebration of music, outdoor movies and craft vendors. The event is part of a larger series of events planned for Myrtle Beach for the month of May. Other events include a Beach Music Festival & Christian Music Festival.

The Arts & Film Festival, however, will take place from 10am-10pm on May 1. Blues musician Buddy Guy will perform and actors Alex Meraz of “Twilight” and Catherine Bell of the TV show “Army Wives” will appear.

The Food, Arts, Music & Entertainment festival is another art-related event scheduled for April 24, from 10am-10pm. Artists will be on hand to sell their artwork and there will also be games and activities for guests. The FAME festival will take place on Broadway Street.

Welcome Summer with the Beach Music Festival in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is hosting a Beach Music Festival Saturday, May 15, from 10am-10pm, on Ocean Boulevard between 8th Avenue North and 9th Avenue North. The event is sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the official ribbon-cutting to mark the completion of the Myrtle Beach boardwalk and promenade will be held in conjunction with the festival at 12pm.

The family-friendly festival is completely free and will kick-off the summer season in Myrtle Beach. It will feature eight regional bands playing on two stages, a national shag dance completion and TLC’s “Cake Boss” will be on hand to create a large flip-flop cake.

The Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting Beach Blast! Christian Music Festival on May 22, from 2pm-9pm at the former Myrtle Square Mall site.

SOS Spring Safari Dance Swings into Myrtle Beach

The SOS Spring Safari Dance is an annual tradition in Myrtle Beach, and it returns to the area April 16-25. This event features the dance that originated in Myrtle Beach – the shag. It will take place on Ocean Boulevard to Main street, where all of the local lounges will be participating. A parade, dance workshops and shag competitions are planned.

Coastal Uncorked Food & Wine Fest Set for Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach will host the inaugural Coastal Uncorked Food & Wine Festival May 16-23, 2010. Attendees will be able to enjoy a tasting trolley around town and a variety of culinary events featuring coastal cuisine, beer and wine tastings, live music and cooking demonstrations. This will be great event to showcase the unique and delicious flavors that are found in coastal Myrtle Beach.

The Coastal Uncorked Restaurant Week will feature $20 pre-fixed menus from participating area restaurants from across the Grand Strand. All local restaurants are invited to participate. A few of those that are participating include Waterscapes, King Street Grille, Aspen Grille, Sea Captain’s House, Divine Fish House, Croissants Bistro & Bakery, Bovine’s, Gordon Biersch Brewery, Divine Prime, Blue Crab Restaurant, Travinia Italian Kitchen & City Bar.

There will be several exciting events taking place over the Coastal Uncorked Week in Myrtle Beach. The Coastal Uncorked Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 19 at the Pine Lakes Country Club. An oceanfront champagne reception will be held on May 20 from 5-8pm and will feature live entertainment and art. Various wine-themed dinners are also scheduled throughout the week, as are a variety of culinary classes. Zip Line Ride & Ropes Course Planned for Broadway at the Beach

Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach has announced a new attraction for thrill seekers, opening this April. The attraction – a Zip Line Ride and Ropes Course – will be operated by WonderWorks Management, which is opening an interactive museum for those of all ages in the Spring of 2011 at Broadway at the Beach.

The Zip Line Ride will go back and forth over the 23-acre Lake Broadway and will fly adrenaline seekers 500 feet back and forth at 50 feet up in the air. The ride will require all passengers to be at least 42 inches tall and will be operated all year long. Certified and trained zip line operators will be on site at all times to ensure the safety of riders.

The ropes course will feature three stories of ropes and 20 different obstacles and activities, including a tire traverse, suspension bridges and swinging beams.

The new WonderWorks museum attraction will be located at the site of the Crab House Restaurant. WonderWorks currently operates two other locations in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Orlando, Florida.
