Beach Boogie & BBQ Festival Myrtle Beach Presents Delicious Food, Great Entertainment
Myrtle Beach is presenting its Beach Boogie and BBQ Festival September 4 & 5 2009, at the Former AFB at Valor Park, within the Base Recreational Center.On September 4, the arts and crafts vendors open at 5pm for visitors who want to do a little shopping, as do the food vendors, which will be serving up everything from BBQ to sweet desserts. There is also an “Anything Goes” Contest & Tasting event that will spotlight dishes like shrimp creole to homemade ice cream and guests can sample all of the delicious dishes by purchasing a sample ticket, with all proceeds benefiting the Omar Shriners charities. At 7pm, The Tams will take the Main Stage to perform hits like “Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy,” “What Kind of Fool,” and “I’ve been Hurt.”
On September 5, there is a whole day of events planned, including South Carolina’s Official Barbeque Championship and Kansas City Barbeque Society Cook-Off, which is free to spectators. The delicious food however, does have a charge, and the vendors accept cash only. Carolina Wake Sports will also be presenting wake board demonstrations on Grand Park Lake during the event. Spectators can watch jaw-dropping wake board demonstrations and also sign up for lessons. The 4th Annual Wheels on the Beach Car Show will take place between 10am and 3pm, along Farrow Parkway, and will feature a variety of classic cars and trucks, all presented by the Myrtle Beach Car Club. The awards ceremony for the car show is scheduled for 3pm.
Guests can also be entertained throughout the day by live music on the Main Stage. Performers will be on the stage from 11am-12:30pm, and from 2pm-3:15pm. At 7:30pm, Maurice Williams and The Zodiacs, a Beach Music Hall of Fame Member, will take the Main Stage to perform hits like “Stay,” “Little Darlin’” and “May I.”
