Wheels of Yesteryear Attraction Opens in Myrtle Beach

One of the Southeast’s most impressive collections of vintage American-made automobiles and trucks comes together under one roof, adding another first-class tourist attraction to the growing array of entertainment options in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Wheels of Yesteryear, located on Hwy 501N beside the Tanger Outlet Mall opened to the public at 10 am on Wednesday, September 30th.

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for those 65 years and up, and $4 for ages 9 – 15 years. Children under 8 will be admitted free. Hours of operation are 10am – 10pm, Monday through Saturday, and noon – 8pm on Sundays. Winter hours (January – March) will be abbreviated. Wheels of Yesteryear will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Easter.

Located in the former Basketville retail location at Hwy 501 and Hwy 31, Wheels of Yesteryear features over 45 classic cars and trucks collected and painstakingly restored by automobile enthusiast Paul Cummings. Cummings’ collection consists of over 100 accurately and fully-restored cars which will all be featured in the auto showcase on a rotating basis, year-round. The collection primarily consists of Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth MOPAR cars, commonly referred to as American Muscle, some Ford Motor Company, GM Division, and AMC Corporation examples of muscle and classic cars of yesteryear. Among the most impressive cars on display are the winged warriors and nostalgia drag cars.

Cummings’ endeavor to feature his collection for the public began in April and has included extensive renovation to the location. He credits the tremendous support of the Myrtle Beach and Conway business communities, as well as the hard-work by many local contractors, builders, painters, laborers, and the countless friends and acquaintances who have offered their time and expertise to the project.

Wheels of Yesteryear is a privately-owned collection, and is not affiliated with any national or international museums, showrooms, manufacturers, distributors, or other automobile outlets or franchises.
