"A very disappionting experience"
August, 2017 NEW
No imagination went into creating any of the 36 holes we played. The design and layout of the two courses were extremely simple with very little to no suspense on any of the holes. What you see from the highway (which is very little) is what you get. With so many other amazing options along Hwy 17, we made a poor choice based on the glowing online reviews. Lesson learned.

"Family Game Night"
July, 2017
My family enjoyed our first round of miniature golf on the indoor course. After we finished it, we won a pass for another round of golf when we returned our golf balls. We used the pass and played the outdoor course that same night. We found the outdoor one more fun and challenging because of the added spinner challenge. We won another game after the outdoor round. The staff was friendly. The place provide a fun activity for all ages. We purchased the family pass and found it to be a great value.

The best part of Molten Mountain is that it has an entire mini golf course indoors. I'm not sure why more places don't have this. It's a great place to play when Myrtle Beach is 90 deg. or when a storm comes in off the ocean. The outdoors course is beautiful with the plants and flowers. It could use some touch ups though. Indoor course leaked all weekend while we were there. There was some rain, but nothing heavy. The outdoor course has activity spinners to make the game more fun, but several of them are coming loose. Overall, one of our favorite places to play mini golf in Myrtle. We get the 3 day pass that lets us play at any of their courses an unlimited number of times. Definitely pays for itself after just a couple of visits.

My kids really loved both the indoor and outdoor courses here. It was a super hot day, so the inside air conditioned course was a welcome relief.

"One of the newest miniature golf courses in the Grand Strand, and one of the best."

Molten Mountain is one of the newer courses in the area's miniature golf pantheon, but it's established itself as a worthy addition. It's themed around Hawaii in general and their volcano goddess, Pele, in particular. It's "hosted" by an amicable--and not too stereotypical--native, Lava Louie. Two separate 18-hole courses are available, Lava Louie's Challenge and Pele's Revenge. The former is mostly indoors while the latter is mostly outdoors. Both are fun, but personally, I would recommend Pele's Revenge. On that course, several of the holes have a Tiki Mischief Spinner at the start; each player spins it before taking their first putt. They must then obey whatever the Spinner tells them to do on that hole, whether that be taking their first shot blind, or using their putter upside-down! These wacky effects liven up miniature golf and guarantee a different game every time. There's also a sign at the start of every hole, where Lava Louie presents an interesting fact about volcanoes, Hawaiian language or culture, or just a humorous note ("the volcano goddess gets angry if you take too many strokes"). Once you've finished your 18 holes, you wind up back in the lobby, where you can return your ball for a chance at a prize, such as a free game at Molten Mountain or one of the other associated miniature golf courses: Mutiny Bay and Cancun Lagoon. Also available in the lobby are drinks and snacks. I've been to Molten Mountain twice and plan to make a third visit on my next trip to the area. Hope to see you there!

"No lava, no fire, kids were disappointed"

We chose to do the indoor course because it was pouring rain outside. At $10.50 an adult and $8.50 a kid, this adds up.... ( three and under are free) but as the volcano looked so cool from the outside with its green lit water falling and smoke from the top, we paid the hefty price for our family to play. Unfortunately inside was a letdown. There were random songs and announcements over an intercom like system but no fires, smoke, lava, just a dimly lit course in need of some attention. Several of the holes were coming apart /needing to be fixed and the rocks around the holes were sparse and in need of replenishment. There were several rain leaks on the course, one tee was soaked, and dripped onto players heads. (Which left a musty moldy smell in the air.) Nothing special inside... people talk about fun extras at this course in reviews but they were not working at all when we were there. The volcanos were all stagnant and off. :( I kept hyping up the kids for this and they were let down.

"Loved the indoor course!"

We have visited North Myrtle several times over the last 10 years. It has become sort of a tradition to play a different course each time. Our two daughters take turns picking the course. This spring while there our oldest daughter chose Molten Mountain. It was a very hot day so Mom and Dad gladly agreed to stopping because of the indoor course. WE weren't sure about doing all 36 holes, so we just paid for the indoor course. The décor was cute inside and out. The holes were all just challenging enough, but not too challenging for our youngest. We all had so much fun with the indoor 18 holes that we opted to go back and pay the additional for the outdoor 18. The only complaint I had was it was quite hot outside, which made this guy sweat a little. But I guess I cannot blame them for me being out of shape! This course was by far the best one we visited while vacationing at North Myrtle. We wouldn't hesitate to visit it again.
