Description

from Myrtle Beach SkyWheel
First, man flew to the moon and then, in 2011, they invented the SkyWheel – the first observation wheel of its kind in the United States. Want a better perspective? The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel is 200-feet above sea level. Take a flight overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk in one of our 42 climate controlled and fully enclosed gondolas.

Situated as a centerpiece of the 1.2 mile-long Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade, the SkyWheel is surrounded by some tasty eats, great shopping and the pristine sands of the Atlantic. When you’re done having your breath taken away by the view from your flight, browse the LandShark SurfShack and then grab a bite at the LandShark Bar & Grill.

The ride lasts approximately 12 minutes with 4 rotations of the wheel.

Children under the age of 2 get to ride free with an Angel Ticket. Must visit the box office upon arrival to receive angel ticket.

We went to the SkyWheel on a Monday afternoon. It was not busy at all, which was great because we didn’t have to wait in line for very long. The people working talked to us while we were waiting, all had great customer service skills and great personalities.

"Great Views!"
September, 2018 NEW
My family and I went to the boardwalk area to walk around and my boyfriend and brother decided to go on the sling shot so I decided to take my 1 year old and 8 year old on the SkyWheel. Best decision! They loved it. Both were in awe of the views and how far you could see. The sky was clear and it seemed to be a full moon so that view was amazing. A bit of a wait but worth it.

"Amazing experience"
September, 2018
Me, my boyfriend and our two 7 year old girls rode the skywheel in myrtle beach. It was the biggest and most amazing ferris wheel we had ever been on. The view of the ocean and the boardwalk was breathtaking. It was one of the highlights of our vacation and we will share that memory forever. We will definitely be back on our next visit to myrtle beach.

"Better Than Expected"
September, 2018
I took the whole family with me and was expecting one rotation like it has been for me whenever I take a Ferris Wheel. To my surprise, we had 5 rotations making pros out of those who were afraid at the beginning of the ride.

"awesome and unique view of myrtle beach, do this if you dont do the helicopter tours"
September, 2018
i was hesitant to go because we have a huge ferris wheel back in chicago, but it was a pretty nice experience. since we didnt do the helicopter tours, the skywheel was a great alternative, considering we had a 4 month old with us. the views up there are amazing, as you can see how grand myrtle beach really is. it seemed to go and on, as it went on at least 7 rotations it seems. worth it, use reserve myrtle beach for a discount.

It was a very neat experience for the kids. They loved it, It was worth the money. The ride wasn't short, but the picture we took was not available at the end because their camera was not working. That has happened a few times that we went. Would have loved to have the pic.

"Weekday + October = no lines!"

We rode the SkyWheel on a Friday afternoon in mid-October and there was literally no line. We bought our ticket and boarded right away. The views at the top were simply gorgeous since it was a beautiful and clear day with not a cloud in the sky. The price was a little steep at $14 per person, but hey, you only live once and who knows if we'll ever be back to Myrtle Beach? At night the wheel is decorated in colored lights which are very cool. I would love to get on it at night as well. I'm sure the nighttime view would be just as spectacular.

We have been to Myrtle Beach many times but never had been on the Skywheel. When I saw the price, we were still very hesitant. For my wife and I, $28 seemed pretty expensive just to get on a Ferris wheel. After discussion, we opted to go. We are so glad we did. The views were well worth the price. You are in your own little car that is air conditioned and comfortable if it is a hot day. Of course, I wish the ride would have lasted longer but I guess that is human nature. With that said, was the ride and views worth nearly $30. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So it is up to you to decide if it is worth the cost.

"Do it at least once for the beautiful view!!"

My husband and I along with our 1 year old twins visited the Skywheel. We had a blast! I had to convince my husband to get on because he's afraid of heights, getting stuck, etc. etc. This wasn't my first time on the wheel, so I talked him into it. We all ended up having a great time! The wheel doesn't go too fast, so you don't have to worry about motion sickness. Also, you get your own little cabin so there's privacy and minimal movement. Pricing wasn't too bad -- I believe it was $14 per adult and the babies were free (under 2). You should do it at least once! Sunset is best!
