"Pleasantly Surprised"
Reviewed June, 2016 NEW
I have a 2 yr old and an 8 yr old and they thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the aquarium. My husband and I were doubtful that there would be enough to keep our 2 year old interested, but we were all able to touch animals, be close up with sharks and rays, catch a mermaid show, and even shop for souvenirs at a great price. We had a really great time.
Tip: We paid for a package deal but the other attraction wasn't in the same location which we were unaware of

The aquarium was wonderful, clean and interesting. The walk through aquarium with the self moving standing track was cool. I have never seen sea creatures in such away. The jellyfish tanks were also very attractive in the different colors. Wonderful gift shop with different gifts at a good price. Great time!

"Surprise in the mall"
Reviewed June, 2016 NEW
I was vey impressed that such a great aquarium was tucked away in a Myrtle Beach mall. I never would have suspected if I hadn't seen it for myself. Great hands-on areas where the staff was so great. We travelled with 2 special needs children and at all the hands-on areas the staff held each of the animals for our children to touch and examine. The mermaid show was really crowded with no visible handicapped areas for children in chairs to be allowed space unless they were able to sit on the floor instead of their chairs. The dangerous cove exhibit was very handicapped accessible and gives you the option of putting chairs or strollers on the moving walkway or pushig them down the regular walkway, it was very nice. I really want to thank the entire staff that was so incredibly helpful during our visit.
Tip: Great aquarium, don't be fooled by the size

Wish they could incorporate more into the tactile areas. Despite this, I was able to witness one of the mermaids ever so delightfully make a small gils dreas come true as she explained her "tail" and what the mermaid does for fun. SO ADORABLE! I loved it and I was 25! The fish tunnel is VERY awesome, being able to see the big sharks from underneath was a sight I had never experienced. Not sure about the food there, Might be best to eat before or after as it seemed a bit over priced and the eating area smelled a great deal like fish!

The two highlights of the aquarium are the big tunnel coursing through (similar to the Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto) and the live Mermaid show where your kids can take pictures with the Mermaids (this was definitely the favorite as my daughter loves mermaids)!
Tip: It's a small aquarium but packed with lots to do. Get there early when it opens to avoid the lines. You can get a hand stamp and come back later in the day. It's right on the boardwalk, which has lots of night activities.

We took our first family vacation in 8 years. It was very nice and we decided to take the kids to Ripley's Aquarium. I remember taking the kids there when they were very little and the enjoyed it very much. I think they enjoyed it just as much if not more this time. They have added the jellyfish section and it was not only informative but fun. We would go again - maybe next time down the road with grandkids.

"Perfect visit to Ripley's"
Reviewed June, 2016 NEW
We recently had the pleasure of visiting Ripley's aquarium at Myrtle beach. It was my 6 month old grandson's 1st big outing. He was held captive by the beautiful colors and the rest of us were amazed by the beauty of all the creatures living there! I think I took over 100 pictures. The jellyfish exhibit was so beautiful and relaxing. It was amazing to go through the living tunnel and watch sharks swim right over our heads! We also bought tickets to the Ripley's museum and drive about 20 miles from our condo to get there. We did not realize that we were supposed to bring our tickets from the aquarium visit to get in but a very nice clerk named Carol worked it out so we could get in without having to drive all the way back. She is the best!
Tip: make sure to plan your visit ahead so you can enjoy the mermaid show. It's only there on certain days.

My trip to south Carolina was the most amazing trip I've been to. I'm sure it's all about the beach and the hot temperature but it's just not all about that, sure I made myself look weird in front of other people that are local there. But hey I've came far and especially drove there with my family just to come have fun and experience it for our first time. Myrtle Beach was my dream come true. My hotel and beach experience was thrilling, amazing, fun, and awesome! Then went to Broadway, the boardwalk, and Ripley's aquarium. I love love the aquarium, it was my dream to walk through a shark tunnel, touch a jelly fish which I've been wanting and was wondering how the feel like and now that I have my mission was accomplished! I would recommend it to friends and family even to anyone! Until this day I want to go back and just stay there forever! Definitely a "TO GO AGAIN" trip. Next year it is. And this time we staying a whole week!

Reviewed June, 2016 NEW
Most overpriced, unorganized place I have ever been. Didn't know where to go when we arrived snd no one available to ask. First attraction we saw was the big tank but it was so dark snd with people sitting all over the floor I tripped over some kids and fell. The tunnel tour was the only fun thing we did. And forcing people to exit through yhe gift shop is a joke. By the time we got through with my grandkids they were crying because we couldn't buy anything. I found it nothing more than an expensive tourist trap that was dangerous to walk through. Don't spend the money
Tip: Over priced and very dangerous to walk through. I fell trying to walk around people sitting on the floor in the dark.

"Decent Aquarium"
Reviewed June, 2016 NEW
This was the second time we have visited a Ripley's Aquarium, and this one was smaller than the one in Pigeon Forge. It was very crowded, but it was around noon and a thunderstorm was coming. The live shows were already packed by the time we arrived and most of the rooms were crowded. It was very hot in the shark tunnel too. We did get to touch a jellyfish, which was cool and the line moved very fast. Comparatively, this Ripley's Aquarium did not have a penguin exhibit, dinosaur exhibit, or an open area to pet stingrays.
Tip: Definitely preorder your tickets to save money. Don't bring a stroller; they're just obnoxious. If you're child can't walk through the exhibits, then they're too young to go!

We had a great time I have a 2 yr old and an 8 ur old and they had a blast until the power went out for a storm you would think they would have emergency light to see but no it was dark and you couldn't see my 8 yr old was scared to death my 2 yr old thought they were playing a game but they told us to move to the top floor and we sat there and no one said anything they just walked around and made sure the tvs were on and never said if it was OK to go back so we left. Also we live in Tennessee and we're close to the Gatlinburg Aquarium and it's bigger than this one it's not even close to a motion you would have thought the Myrtle Beach Aquarium would have been bigger but the one in Tennessee was almost 10 times bigger
Tip: Food is outrageous $9 for one hamburger and if you want to see the mermaid you better get there early if not you will have to stand up the whole time and won't be able to see half of it

"Love it!"
Reviewed November, 2015
I took my grandchildren to Ripley's Aquarium. We have gone there several times over the years. It's the only place that my grandchildren don't seem to get bored of lose interest. I just wish there was some kind of seating area at the first big tank at the bottom of the ramp and the mermaid show tank. I have to use a cane and it's hard for me to stand for long periods. We missed the mermaid show because we couldn't see over the people standing around. It would be great if there was a good affordable restaurant on site. I know they have a limited snack bar and it was nice to be able to sit for a while. The kids didn't really want to leave to go eat. I thought it was great that you could leave and come back. I forgot my camera in the car so that allowed me to go and get it. I do think some of the prices in the gift shop were a little high but I guess that's true with most attractions. After all, someone has to pay the bills and feed the fish. When I think about it that way I really don't mind spending a little more. Especially if it helps to keep this amazing place open. We've lost a lot of good places in Myrtle Beach over the years. Over all it's still a wonderful place. I could sit and watch those fish for hours. It's so relaxing even with two wild boys in tow. I would love to receive information on discount days if you have any. We used to get a discount through the hospital I work for but not now and I have several grandchildren I would like to bring but it gets a little pricey. Not that it's not worth it. It's worth every penny but I think they should all have to chance to experience this wonderful place.
I heard that they were going to have a glass bottom boat soon. I hope so. I could go on and on but the bottom line is that this place exhilarates me and makes me feel like and kid again. When I ask my grandchildren where they want to go on vacation they always say to the beach and the aquarium. My 13 year old grandson loves it so much said he wants to work there someday. I told him anything's possible.
I would definitely recommend Ripley's Aquarium to all my family and friends. I also wanted to thank you for providing a safe and clean environment for my family as well as the sea creatures. I really appreciated the hand sanitizer stations.
Let me not forget the staff. They were great. Sometimes you go places and the staff acts like you are taking up there time or they just don't want to be there. I did not see any of that here and that made our experience even more enjoyable. Thank You!!!!!
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes. Walking through once is not enough.

As many times as I've been to Myrtle Beach over the last 33yrs, I'd NEVER visited Ripleys Aquarium!!! What a GREAT experience with my son & 2 Granddaughters 16 & the other only 10 months old. She was so entertained the WHOLE TIME we were there. There was just so much to see & we ALL enjoyed the mermaids !!! There were 2 SUV's full of family that went that day. Even though the parking was all but full, there was plenty of room for us to.take our time to enjoy ALL of the sites, species & shopping areas. Of course we had to buy a few items to remember what a GREAT PLACE for a FAMILY OUTTING. All employees that we tslked to were very informative & polite!!! Even the restrooms were tidy to take the Baby to change her. We were very impressed & purchasing tickets was made very easy. If you've not been, it's worth the price & VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY & a NICE cool environment to spend a couple hours or so with family. Ours ranked from 10 months old to 83 years old & ALL enjoyed & talked about it during our 8 day stay. Thank you for this opportunity to encourage others to attend. Carol M, Statesville, NC
Tip: Plan to take your time to enjoy the aquariums set up to enjoy some of the species GOD has put here on earth that many never take the opportunity to observe up close & plan to sit down, take a lil reat to watch the mermaids entertainment & plan to stop to shop the souveniirs where there's something for all ages.

It's a great way for family's to come together and have fun while educating their kids and even the adults on the sea animals that they may come in contact with while at the beach.
Tip: Make sure you have plenty of time so you don't have to rush and make sure to bring a camera for the great pictures you will be taking.

On the way home my granddaughter told us this was the best day ever!

This was our 3rd trip to the aquarium and we wanted to surprise our 6 year old with the stingray encounter. Not only did he have an incredible experience but so did we!! Brian took us behind the scenes to get a view of the kitchen for the animals , rainbow rock, and then we continued into water. We spent about an hour in the water snorkeling and touching the stingrays. What magnificent animals. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Very enjoyable, my son is already asking to do it again. We definitely will next year (only because we live 11 hours away). Thanks to everyone at the aquarium for this great adventure.

I loved the little smiles of the sting rays, although I'd never swim with them, they did put a smile on my face, and the sharks!! Up close, I could actually see 2 rows of teeth, thank goodness they were on the other side of the glass tunnel. Which by the way is just fabulous!

"Ripleys acquarium, I cant believe it"
Reviewed April, 2015
while the aquarium was ok, I do not believe it was Ripley's worthy. To me Ripley's should be an experience that is unbelievable. There were no long lines, service was great & the people were friendly, but the aquarium needs to do something different to separate itself from he rest. The attractions were very plain. If you have seen one aquarium this one would compare to the rest. Sorry guys I absolutely love the facility & service, I just felt we didn't get our money's worth we paid $20+ a piece and we walked through the entire aquarium in about 20 minutes, felt like I didn't get my moneys worth.
Also the coin machine, on the sign showing the novelty coins it stated 1 coin for $5 or 4 for $15 what it fails to tell you is if you use credit/debit card you must get all 4 coins, which really bummed me out because I had idea we have to buy all 4 coins, which wasn't bad but if your on a budget this can hurt you as there is no sign and no option to cancel the purchase once your card is swiped.
Just felt like it needed more, the tunnel was cool and the hands on attractions (the sting ray touching & horse shoe carbs) is great attraction but I didn't see any turtles or beluga whales which really surprised me.

I had a week of work off at the end on August. My boyfriend and I made a last minute decision to pack up and head to Myrtle Beach. We found a good deal on a condo, and upon arrival, they provided us with brochures. The Ripley ' s Aquarium was one of those. We actually ended up going to almost every Ripley ' s attraction. The aquarium was very nice and you guide yourself through it at your own pace. It was very interactive, and though we do not have kids, it is very kid friendly, but also fun for all ages. The aquarium was awesome. I would have to say, it was the highlight of our trip. The shark tank is amazing the kids loved it a such as I did, if not more. You actually just stand on a moving walk way and takes you all around the shark tank. It actually feels like yout inside the tank. Seeing there above and around you. In ma we would was its FREAKIN AWESOME. It was a great family outing that was great for all of us 3 boys 12,8,5 1 girl 1 year and 2 adults. We really liked the fish in the tank that eat the skin off your hands. (I KNOW RIGHT THAT SOUNDS GROSS) butt if you try it, you will be lured back. Some nail salons actually offer this service and it's pretty expensive. You soak your hands or feet in a bucket of tiny fish. So I thought it was pretty cool to experience it literally hands on. The aquarium was busy but we where still able to see everything and enjoy it. It's very affordable thanks to reserve myrtle beach.com. I thought we where going to have to pick and chose between the Ripleys exibits. But thanks to RESERVE MYRTLE BEACH.COM we where able to purchase a discounted combo pass. Don't forget to check out Ripleys believe it or not. I LOVE that place!! I hope this review helps . If your on the fence about going I would definitely recommend it, most definitely!!!!
