I hadn't been to a Ripley's since I was a child so this was a nostalgic stop for me. The young man wasn't sure what to do with our e-tickets and had to go get a manager. She showed him how to ring it up and we were on our way. I had read the reviews that said there was a lot of reading throughout the exhibit but I felt it was balanced with the displays and a few hands on things. It might not appeal to everyone but we enjoyed it.

"a cross between walking through a weird and well-traveled uncle's attic and attending a freak show"

I believe this attraction has changed it's name to the Ripley's Odditorium which is a pretty descriptive term for what you will see. This is the oldest of the Ripley's attractions at Myrtle Beach and, despite a few new exhibits, it's age is showing. Many of the oddities are very old and dusty. Most are mildly interesting, like an iron man made of recycled metal, but some are truly bizarre, like a shrunken head. Essentially, the experience is like a cross between walking through a weird and well-traveled uncle's attic and attending a freak show. It won't change your life but it is good for a one hour distraction.

You can bundle 2 ripley experiences and it really is a good deal. We did this and the aquarium, and they had added some things to the this one, including a dance room with lights that's really cool.
