"3 Stays at this hotel and will stay here everytime I visit MB"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed July 20, 2016 NEW

I have stayed at Camelot on 3 different occasions. My first visit was on a family trip in August of 2013, then just my husband and I visited May 2014 and then again as a family trip August 2014. When we stayed as a family we stayed in the 3 bedroom units on a higher floor which were awesome. There's plenty of room for everyone and a huge balcony. On the trip with just my husband and I we stayed in a 1 bedroom which was also perfect. The pros of staying here is being able to park near your room in the parking garage and only needing the elevators when you are going to the pool or beach. The housekeeping at this place always does a fantastic job. I have stayed places where there's hair stuck to your sheets and towels or the bathroom isn't as clean as it should be. I feel comfortable at Camelot, like I am at home. And that goes a long way with me. The pools are nice and clean and the beach area is also clean in front of the hotel. The front desk clerks are always helpful and the security is always on top of things here. I feel that my family is safe here. I haven't been back in a while but I look forward to my next visit!!!!

"Should have been better for the price"

Disappointed from the start. We notified the front desk that we were there early and they said they would call us when our room was ready....it wasn't ready until 30 minutes past the normal check in time. We requested a high floor and got the 3rd floor (of a 15+ floor building) We get the gated parking and our first card didn't work. There were no luggage carts to be found (actually we found a 3 wheeled one) and parking was hit or miss to get on your floor. Exercise room had no free weights and old equipment We get to the room and it was underwhelming considering what we paid and what we've experienced elsewhere at Myrtle. The safe didn't work.Master bedroom door was busted. Kitchen and one bathroom had a funky smell. Toaster didn't work, took 2 days to get a replacement and that was only after I took the toaster to the front desk. No washcloths in the room, took 2 days to get them. No trash can in one of the bathrooms. WiFi service was horrendous inside or out. Disconnects and simply no service was common. It's 2016, internet service shouldn't be like 1995 dial-up. Pools were nice, lazy river was small but nice. Beach access was good. Stairs only exited to outside the building. Staff member Rusty was nice. We won't be staying here again no matter how nice their website appears.

"It's ok..not great"

Well..first..for what you get in a room...condo..it's fairly expensive to stay here. It's nearly impossible to keep a resort near the ocean spotless. It's very humid in common areas that aren't air conditioned. Seemed difficult to get towels and washcloths on a regular basis. Asked if I could get some and was told they were "out". I will say that the AC in our condo worked very well. The location is good and the beach is very nice. If you don't like crowds ..don't go during peak season. In July..it's packed.

"BEST VACATION EVER"

We have rented a 3 bedroom condo twice now and we love it. We have stayed off season the week of thanksgiving and the week of Christmas. Its is so relaxing and great being ocean front in walking distance to the sky wheel, shops and restaurant. The condos are clean and so are the pools.

"Dirty, poor housekeeping, outdated and broken..."

I always like to mention the positives in any review I write. Camelot by the Sea has a couple. The oceanfront view was great (even from the third floor), and the air conditioner in our room worked very well (and it needed to, because it was HOT). That's about the extent of the positives. When we arrived around 5 pm on a Saturday, the check-in process was obviously not working. There was no place to park, there were people parked all over the place, blocking others and the parking garage was basically gridlocked. I had to drive back out on to the street a couple of times just to find a place to park so I could check in. There was a substantial line, but the line moved pretty quickly. We arrived in our room and realized that it looked nothing like those pictures posted online. The furniture and fixtures were dated. The sofa was uncomfortable, the walls had scuff marks and the doors, inside and out, had dirty handprints on them. The refrigerator and dishwasher were very old. The wheels kept falling off the bottom rack of the dishwasher, and the ice maker made, at best, what could be described as ice chips... not the ice cubes it use to make in 1993. The refrigerator's door shelves kept falling off and I replaced them a couple of times. The bottom shelf was cracked. Some of the kitchen drawer faces were loose. The stove, microwave oven, and coffee maker appeared to be in good shape. PRO-TIP: they do not provide hotpads for the oven (kinda makes it hard to cook, don't you think?), or paper towels for the kitchen. In the front bathroom, the towel rack was missing one of it's support brackets and was laying on the floor next to the toilet. In the back bathroom, the closet door no longer runs on it's track and opens like a regular door instead of the folding door it began it's long life ago as. The laundry closet door had a problem where it just didn't close at all. The mattress in the back bedroom was probably manufactured around the same time as the refrigerator. It was sagging in the middle and my wife and I had to use the extra pillows for support so we didn't roll into each other. Some of the light switches were confusing. The light switch in the back bedroom seemed to have no function. The light switch in the living area turns the TV on and off. Housekeeping was hit or miss. On the first and third day we were there, they came early. On the second day they didn't come at all. On the other days, they came in the late afternoon. I don't think the floors have ever been cleaned. Right after I took a shower, I walked around the all tile floor in my bare feet and they were black within ten minutes. Gross. We had constant trouble with the free in-room Wifi. There was one day where it didn't work at all, so I finally called down to the front desk and told the girl who answered that none of our devices (two iPhones, an iPad, a laptop, and my Android phone) couldn't connect to the Wifi. She snidely told me that the Wifi worked down at the front desk. I finally got a toll-free number to call, and told them the same thing and his reply was "Well, I'll call the front desk and get them to reset the router". Really? I could have saved them the trouble. I knew that's what was wrong. I was promised a call back "shortly" and after nine hours, I still hadn't received a call. A visit to the front desk got me nothing but a promise that the Wifi would be working in the morning because nobody had a key to get to it at 9 pm. That, my friends, is some spectacular customer service. In the end, I did wind up speaking to a manager, who profusely apologized and promised to send maintenance up to look at my issues with the room. They fixed the towel bar, and nothing else. We were told that the other items were "due for replacement", which would occur well after our departure. Gee, thanks. Full disclosure: the manager did offer me a discount, to be returned to my credit card. As of this review, I haven't received it. Oh, don't miss the pictures of the fancy super-expensive wall clock I posted along with this review.
