"Caribbean Resort was not what we were expecting"

We decided to stay on the beach this time and bought a golf package, which was a four night stay including 3 rounds of golf & 4 days's breakfasts for two of us. The price was vey reasonable. The young lady at the reception desk was very personable and we were looking forward to a nice dinner and a relaxing evening. We got to our King Suite room, unpacked and found that the condition of the room was Sub-standard. We don't require much but it has to be clean and this was definitely not. The carpet looked dirty so we wouldn't walk around barefoot in the rooms. The kitchen appliances were a little grungy. The side of the refridgerator should have been wiped clean after the last guest left but wasn't. The faucets in the kitchen and bathroom were so loose that they wobbled when you turned on the water and needed to be tightened. The tub/ toilet were sqeezed into a tiny bathroom and you felt claustrophobic. There must have been a leak from the floor above because there was a large section of the ceiling that needed to be repainted. The doorknobs were lose, shall I continue? There was cigarette smoke coming in to our room through the vents in the room. Yuk! That night at 2 a.m. someone was pounding on the door to the room next to ours. This continued for more than 10 minutes. The neighbor finally answered the door and then there was very loud arguing in the hall for quite a while. The next day we approached Spike, the manager, and he had no idea anything happened the night before. He just kept saying that he was sorry and if it happened again, we should call the desk and ask security to come up. Are you kidding me? I should call you at 2 am? We suggested that he speak to the occupants in the next room but he said he couldn't do that, he was so sorry. Really? So we went back upstairs, packed our bags and made other arrangements immediately. We loaded up the car and I stopped by the front desk to return the keys and inform Spike that we were leaving. We then checked into the Sheraton Broadway Plantation which has been a favorite of ours for several years. The rest of the vacation was fabulous. Some day we may retire in the Myrtle Beach area...

Stayed in the Dominican for a week. The accommodations were excellent and the balcony overlooked the ocean. Although the building is a bit dated, the rooms were clean and roomy. My only concern was the need to contact the front desk for towels and trash service. Housekeeping was a bit hit and miss during the week. Pools and hot tubs were clean and enjoyed these amenities. Great time of year to visit as there are few tourists and the Caribbean was very quiet.

This resort is on the beautiful grand strand beach! Pools are clean and warm. Lots of deck chairs. The rooms are condos! Everyone has different amenities but the one we stayed in was large, clean and comfortable with 7 people in it! Area is safe. Lots of shopping and restaurants close by! Myrtle beach is a great destination!

For about five years straight, I came to Myrtle Beach and stayed at this hotel every October for my Birthday. It's been 3 years since I last visited and it's sadly lost its luster. The Good: They did do some renovations. They added a small bar in the lobby and a spa onsite as well as a cute little nautical themed bathroom area by the pool and a fireplace. They also had a full sized refrigerator and a stove so for those traveling on a budget who would prefer to make their own food rather than eat out every night, this was ideal. The manager was also very kind and looked after our bags after we checked out so that we would enjoy the beach for a few more hours before our flight. The Bad: We stayed in the Dominican building and honestly if they were going to renovate, they should have started with the rooms in this building. There were curtains with holes in them, the rooms were painted a sickly green color, and half of the lights didn't work. We also had issues with Palmetto Bugs (cockroaches) in our room. I don't recall ever seeing these bugs there during previous stays but after speaking to multiple other guests, we discovered that we were not the only ones with this issue. They were also all over the pool deck. I mentioned this to the manager and he seemed to acknowledge it was a common issue. For this reason alone, in the future, we will no longer we staying at this hotel when we visit Myrtle Beach. It makes me sad because we've had some amazing memories in the past staying here with friends and family.

I would not even give this place one star. One of my friends left their luggage in the parking lot and they could not tell her if it was even her luggage or not. They kept transferring me to the manager's voicemail and I left multiple ones and I have still not gotten a reply back. Yes, it was her fault she left her luggage but they are also responsible for their customer service (which is why there is jobs for this). We have been going here for years and this will be the LAST time we make reservations with them.
