The property itself is great. Good rooms (in the tower, haven't stayed in the standard hotel rooms, we had a 1 bedroom suite) Check-in staff was great. The housekeeping was TERRIBLE> shouldn't even offer it... Wi-fi is not very good...

We stayed here for the Carolina Country Music Fest just recently. At check in cars were backed up and they did not have any rooms ready and kept telling everyone to wait, wait, wait it was a complete deadlock. We could not move our car, we did not get a room until 4:45pm. We had terrible room service and breakfast was yuck the only 1 day I tried it. The elevators stay broke and of course we were on the 21st floor. They will not let guest use the luggage carriers to get your things to your room, I was told they were not for guest. Never again will I stay here.

We just stayed 6 nights in a two bedroom suite with 6 people. This is our third year coming to Myrtle Beach. We usually stay at a different hotel, but unfortunately it was booked, so we decided to try the Carolinian. First off, the pictures of the room looked absolutely nothing like the room we stayed in... which I understand that not all pictures will accurately depict every room, but this was VERY different. It was a large room, big enough to comfortably fit us all, but everything was crammed really tight. When the bellman brought in our luggage, he took a huge chunk out of the corner wall in the hallway because it was almost impossible to manipulate the huge cart through the skinny area. The room smelled old and musty. The sliding door to go onto the balcony didn't work and was impossible to open/close. We never received sheets for the pull out couch bed, so we had to use our own blankets the kids brought. Thank goodness they brought their own pillows also. I ran a load in the dishwasher, and it smelled so bad when I opened it and ran it, it made our entire room smell like a dead rotten fish had been sitting in the dishwasher for weeks. I never did open it to unload it because I was afraid it would smell up the room again, and definitely didn't want to use any dishes that had been in there. We couldn't get the smell out of the room for two days. I wish I was exaggerating. Every time we showered, if someone in a different room either turned on the sink or flushed the toilet, our water pressure went down to nothing until the other water was shut off. We only received housekeeping services once during our 6 night stay and had to request fresh Towels. My seven year old noticed a board near the sink that had fallen (the cabinet toe kick) and it was face up with 2 inch long nails sticking up in the middle of the kitchen. That could have ruined our entire vacation. thank goodness we noticed it before someone stepped on it. And don't bother doing valet parking unless you have plenty of time to wait. We waited a terribly long time for our car to be pulled around. I would call for the car while in our room and sometimes it would be ready but most of the time it wouldn't. After waiting 40 minutes, I walked into the front desk to ask them about the car, and they hadn't even given anyone the keys to pull it around yet. The bellmen moved the seats and mirrors and steering wheel every time they drove our car and never put them back to where they found them. I was afraid our keys would get lost because there was never a bellman waiting at the door, so we would give them to the front desk. They usually would just put them somewhere on the desk and walk away. The pool was ok, not great. Our kids did enjoy the lazy river. The elevators were terrible. When we checked in, there was only one working elevator for 21 floors. We were on the 20th. They soon got one more up and running, but the third never worked the entire time we were there. They were stinky and really hot and dirty. The door would shake vigorously while going up or down. It didn't feel safe. We waited a very long time each time we tried to use them. The staff tried to be friendly, but they seemed miserable. (Except for one of the bellman, he was always smiley and happy) there is no bar at this hotel. Which is ok, but I was under the impression there was one at the hotel. Sometimes it's nice to have a nice cold drink by the pool while vacationing! For paying $300+/night, I would have expected MUCH better. I will not be returning to the Carolinian. A positive about he hotel is the great location. Choose wisely!!!

I'll start on a few positive notes: 1. Ocean Front View from the 11th floor was beautiful. 2. Beach access was great. That's it! Now the negative notes: 1. Rooms smelled "musty" ... 1 bedroom was terrible! 2. Mattresses were TERRIBLE to sleep on! Family woke up with back aches. 3. No bedding for the pull out couch. When housekeeping delivered the bedding, they brought 1 pillow, 4 pillow cases 1 fitted sheet, 1 top sheet and no blanket! Called back to request blanket and 1 more pillow, they only brought the blanket! 4. When we opened the couch to "Make the bed" ... we were SHOCKED to see the dirty mattress cover ... with what appeared to be bed bug stains! The underside of the mattress was full of holes! We closed it back up as the mattress was so thin and worn that it would not comfortably support 2 adults!! We called the Front desk to request a replacement matress and they told us they could not as our unit is privately owned!! I slept on the unopened couch and barely could get out of it as the cushions sank so low to the ground. :( 5. Curly body hair was in the bed! 6. Wonder if they ever had pest control in the room as we had 3 uninvited guests ... HUGE Palmetto bugs!! 7. Kitchen counters were sticky when we arrived ... we had to clean before use! 8. Floors were filthy! Walking around barefoot the soles of our feet were black!! 9. The pool under cover and lazy river was "yellow"! The outside pool was acceptable. This was an honest review.

We have stayed in Myrtle Beach numerous times and I thought since the Carolinian was owned by the same organization that owns Paradise Resort it would be a good choice. I was so wrong! It was an unorganized mess from check in to check out. The elevators stay broke and we were on the 21st floor, the room was not ready by 4pm and they kept telling us to wait. We never did get room service and the free breakfast was nasty. The staff is young and does not care. I was told by one of the bell boys that the luggage carries were not for guest so we had to carry all our luggage. I will never stay here again.
