I booked last minute and became very nervous when I went in and read reviews. Happy to say we did not experience many of the concerns I read. We checked in a little after 4pm and were told our room was not quite ready (beds were not made yet) but could take our things up. We went out and returned around 8:45p with 4 children 5 and under who were tired and wanted to go to bed but beds still were not made. I ran into housekeeping and the young lady was quick to say we were on the list and made a call and by the time I got upstairs, someone else was making the beds. We were in room 833 and view was great and room was fine, I would remove carpet and replace with vinyl plank flooring to update the room. We choose to by pass housekeeping all week and our privacy was honored. When housekeeping was in hallway, they were very gracious to swap out towels so we were very satisfied! There is a slight smell in enclosed hallways from trash being left out, mostly by guest. I did have to wash all dishes before use, but I would have done that anyway regardless of where I stayed. Two features my family liked were the free movie rentals and happy hour, We were very happy overall because our focus was spending time with family not finding fault with every little thing!

"1st time stay"

This was our 1st time staying at the Carolinian. The check in process was very easy. The staff was very friendly and organized. They bring you a cart and the "bell boy" actually loads your luggage and takes it to your room and unloads it at no additional cost. This was nice. :) We booked a 2 bedroom suite. Rm. 1032. I do highly recommend this unit. It was very nice!! It had very cute, "homey" decorations. The unit was very clean. It's actually one of the nicer unit's I've stayed in at MB in a few years. The resort offers free daily putt-putt passes. As well has free passes to a water park about 25 mins away from the resort. The free breakfast was good. The dining room was a little crowded however, it was a decent size and it has a great view of the ocean. Another plus that we really enjoyed was the free movie rental. It's similar to a red box but you only get one movie at a time. Overall I really like this hotel and I can be kind of picky. :) The only negative things was housekeeping and the pool area. The were very very nice and professional. However, they must be short staffed. We stayed 6 night's and only had services 2 times. We had to call one evening to get towels and trash taken out and it took from 5pm to 9pm before anyone showed up. The pool area was clean and well maintained however, they only have a small out door pool, a small indoor pool, lazy river, and one small hot tub. So, these area's can get a little crowded. But overall you can't go wrong staying here. The resort is beautiful and the staff is amazing!! We will definitely stay here again!!

My family and I take a yearly trip to Myrtle Beach and have stayed a few different places. The Carolinian was definitely a good place to stay and we will be back. We booked a two bedroom two bath oceanfront suite. The room was very spacious, we had plenty of room to accommodate our family of 6. Actually could have fit a couple more people and still been comfortable. Surprisingly the elevators were fast with minimal weight times. Only complaint we had and kept us from rating a 5 was house keeping out of the 6 nights we stayed housekeeping only came and cleaned our room twice. We are not picky people and don't ask for much but we were a little upset when we had to call the front desk several times over a 4 hour period to get toilet paper and towels brought up because it was 6 pm and housekeeping still hadn't visited our room. Besides this small glitch we had a great stay.

We have stayed here in the past and chose this hotel because of the proximity to the beach and activities such as Broadway at the beach and outlet malls. It it a quick 5 minute drive to each. The hotel check in staff we're friendly that is we're it stops for us the room was DIRTY. It has gone downhill from our last stay considerably. The bathroom looked like someone had either spilled something on the walls and door (possibly someone vomited) and the hallway into the side room smelled like a dumpster the housekeeping staff if you were not there to answer the door and answers their question of what you wanted them to do did not clean at all. When they came they acted like it was a pain to do their job. One house keeper on our first day was nice and sprayed the carpet in the hallway to try to remedy the smell. We asked the desk to move us rooms when they agreed we went to the new room and the smell was there too like they were storing garbage in the electric room in the hallway. We ended up staying in the original room because we had already went out and bought febreeze and air freshener plugs in and it was mildly better. We had to hold our breath going into the room from the hallway and quickly shut the door to keep the smell out. We ran out of towels and toilet paper and they expected some one from our room to come and get it ( it was early in the day not late at night or anything). For the cost of the hotel and the fact we were already not getting cleaning service as expected this was ridiculous. The dishes in the cabinets had to be scrubbed before use we had brought paper and plastic but no cooking pots or I would have just used my own. The sofa bed sleeper had dirty sheets that had mysterious brown stains on them we ended up having our older son not sleep on it and sleep crunched up on the couch overall were were very disappointed with how poor this hotel has became and wil be looking for a new hotel chain next year

"Nice room but service is lacking"

We booked our 6 night stay early in the year, requesting a suite with an ocean view, When entering the room,we noticed that our ocean view was of a brick wall, where another hotel was be constructed, we went and spoke with the front desk about it, and nice lady told us she didn't have another suite available for 6 days, but that she could give us a discount, it was a mistake, we were on the street side of the hotel, and noise from the street at night was unbearable, our 6 year old could not go to sleep, with the sounds of roaring engines, screaming and yelling and the loud music, then to top that off the construction next would start at 7 am in the morning so much for trying to sleep in. We never had our floors cleaned for the six days we were staying there, couldn't get any clean towels, we got towels two days that we were there and thats because we ask the maid for them. ITs a good thing there was a washer and dryer in the room, we washed and dryed our towels so that we could have some to use. the beds were made two days out of the six, Elevators were a total nightmare, We use the stairs instead of having to wait 15 minutes for an elevator. We like the size of the room and the convience of having a kitchen and a washer and dryer, but I don't see how you can sell these rooms as an ocean view when all you see is a cider block wall. We do want to visit this resort again, but I will refuse to stay on the side of the hotel we were given. It looks to me if you booked early in the year that would have been taken into consideration. This was a family vacation and it was not up to par. Hopefully next year we will book an ocean front suite with a view. The indoor pool was nice, but it was crazy there, kids throwing floats into the pool and lazy river, daughter got hit by one once, kids jumping into the lazy river and being crazy. We will be back but please take this review into consideration and make sure that when a guest books a room with view they are given one, .
