"Worse vacation in quite a while"
October, 2016
First of all Dayton House has 3 buildings. We were given a room in the one across the street from the beach . Don't ever stay there. we were startled awake every morning by a noise. The final straw came when they were repairing the roof, much banging and hammering and we were not warned nor offered a different room while this was going on. When I called the front desk they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about but said that he would call us back. Never received a call back. Secondly, do not be deceived by the name,no way was that a RESORT. There was a red stain on the carpet and on the mattress, I'll let you decide what that might have been.

"Wonderful! But needs more handicap parking.."
June, 2016
I just returned from my first trip to Myrtle Beach. The Dayton House is a great place to stay. We had a beautiful, clean partial ocean view room, and the hotel has three pools, two Jacuzzis, and a lazy river. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and they are a short distance from the fabulous Broadway on the Beach. The grounds at the Dayton House were immaculately kept. It's a great place for families. And the price was very reasonable, a great value for what you get. The only problem I had was parking..We had a disabled adult that's in a wheelchair and it was really hard finding handicap parking. I had to drop that person off and then park a distance from the motel which I wasn't fond of but I would still recommend the Dayton House.

"Relaxing At The Dayton House Resort"
July, 2015
This was our first time staying in Myrtle Beach and we took a chance booking a Hotel we had never been to. We had a great stay. We were upgraded to a ocean view suite as soon as we checked in. The yello umbrella area was a great addition to our stay. Never had to worry about finding a place to lay out and enjoy the ocean. The pools were fantastic and not overly crowded. We plan to come back again next year, because this Hotel is centrally located with plenty of restaurants and fun places to go.

"Ok place to stay"

We had a great view of the ocean from our room, but that was the only thing to write home about. The room was an older room and you could tell it had been remodeled several times.

We were able to check in early and our room was very nice, functional room for the money. We didn't use any of the facilities, but other than a noisy shower we were very satisfied and got what we paid for. We have stayed here before and will again

We love Dayton House Resort. Been staying there for many years. This year we stayed in one of the remodeled oceanfront efficiencies. They did a great job with the remodel. Their oceanfront lawn with tables, chairs, and umbrellas is the biggest and best in Myrtle Beach. Cant wait to return!

"friendly, relaxing vibe but suites building needs more attention from housekeeping"

[I'd give our experience 2.5 stars instead of 3 if it were possible.] I love the employees and vibe at Dayton House; we visited in 2012 and enjoyed our visit, but after this visit we probably won't return. Last visit, we found the room we stayed in to be dated and worn but clean and comfortable. This time around, though, our room felt grubby and had stains on the walls, ceiling, carpet, trash from previous guests on the floor, sticky residue on the bedside table, parts of the ceiling flaking off from water damage above one bed, a hole in the wall behind a doorknob, and most worrying, the carpet beside the a/c unit nearest the balcony was saturated with water to the point that it splashed when we first stepped onto it on our way out to the balcony. We had to jump over that area or wear shoes when walking out to the balcony for the remainder of the visit. The Murphy bed seemed fine but the area of the wall that it's stored in really needed to be vacuumed. I would have opted for the sofa instead but I wasn't sure how clean the furniture was given the general condition of the room. The amenities were fine: average pool/hot tub/lazy river, questionable-looking kiddie pool but our kids are old enough that we didn't need it; excellent short walk out to the beach and a nice little rinsing station near the pool area which I really appreciated. The elevators in the Suites Building work fine but are pretty rough looking—the floor on one of them looks rusted but not to the point where I think it's unsafe. All of the employees we spoke to were very friendly and helpful and I do love the relaxed atmosphere but we just couldn't get past the unpleasant aspects of the room. Overall, we were very disappointed because we'd had such a good experience the last time. Last time around we had an angle view room, and this time we had an oceanfront efficiency suite in the Suites Building—not sure if that made the difference or if the rooms have just declined that much in the six years since our last visit. It wasn't the worst hotel experience we've ever had but it wasn't the stay we'd looked forward to. I wouldn't mind giving Dayton House another shot, maybe in one of the renovated rooms they've been advertising, but vacations are rare and hotels are a big expense for us, so I probably won't take the chance.

The service is excellent but the room had a couple of issues. The toile was leaking and the air conditioner in bedroom was not cooling the room. We have stayed many years at Dayton House and will continue to stay at Dayton House. The landscape and pool areas are wonderful along with the hotel staff.
