"Worse vacation in quite a while"
October, 2016
First of all Dayton House has 3 buildings. We were given a room in the one across the street from the beach . Don't ever stay there. we were startled awake every morning by a noise. The final straw came when they were repairing the roof, much banging and hammering and we were not warned nor offered a different room while this was going on. When I called the front desk they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about but said that he would call us back. Never received a call back. Secondly, do not be deceived by the name,no way was that a RESORT. There was a red stain on the carpet and on the mattress, I'll let you decide what that might have been.

"Wonderful! But needs more handicap parking.."
June, 2016
I just returned from my first trip to Myrtle Beach. The Dayton House is a great place to stay. We had a beautiful, clean partial ocean view room, and the hotel has three pools, two Jacuzzis, and a lazy river. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and they are a short distance from the fabulous Broadway on the Beach. The grounds at the Dayton House were immaculately kept. It's a great place for families. And the price was very reasonable, a great value for what you get. The only problem I had was parking..We had a disabled adult that's in a wheelchair and it was really hard finding handicap parking. I had to drop that person off and then park a distance from the motel which I wasn't fond of but I would still recommend the Dayton House.

"Relaxing At The Dayton House Resort"
July, 2015
This was our first time staying in Myrtle Beach and we took a chance booking a Hotel we had never been to. We had a great stay. We were upgraded to a ocean view suite as soon as we checked in. The yello umbrella area was a great addition to our stay. Never had to worry about finding a place to lay out and enjoy the ocean. The pools were fantastic and not overly crowded. We plan to come back again next year, because this Hotel is centrally located with plenty of restaurants and fun places to go.

"Ok place to stay"

We had a great view of the ocean from our room, but that was the only thing to write home about. The room was an older room and you could tell it had been remodeled several times.

"Alabama Theater trip"

We were able to check in early and our room was very nice, functional room for the money. We didn't use any of the facilities, but other than a noisy shower we were very satisfied and got what we paid for. We have stayed here before and will again

We stay a week in South Carolina and we enjoyed the view of ocean from the balcony, long walks on the beach and sitting and lounging under the umbrella area. We plan to be repeaters to Dayton House Resort.

Good experience. Would use again. Not to many food locations close by. Im a pilot and I loved seeing the helicopter tours along the beach. Even though you have to pay for chairs at lifeguard location, well worth it. Lots of parking across the street and 2 blocks away. Don't rent a SUV! No parking in hotel if you have a SUV.

"Locked in balcony"

We got locked on our balcony at 2am because of a weird hook lock they added to their sliding door. Thank God my husband had his cell phone, had to call 911 at 2am because there was no front desk person over night and we had already left a message... it was a total buzz kill on my honeymoon

"Fantastic Experience - We Would Recommend"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

We had a wonderful stay in the South Building this past week. Our room was very nicely furnished with comfortable beds, and an excellent beachfront balcony. The kitchenette was convenient and a great way to save on snacks and lunches, and the air conditioner worked very well. Cleaning staff provided plenty of coffee as well, which made for great mornings on the balcony. Friendly staff members (special thanks to Dennis at the front desk and Jessica who was cleaning our room) added a special touch of care to the experience. The facilities were clean and well maintained, and the landscapers do a beautiful job on the flowers and trees. We walked around nearby hotels, and felt that ours had the most pool space (two hot Tubs, an outdoor lazy river, a large outdoor pool, and a good sized pool that was partially under the north building and partially outside), with plenty of chairs in sun and shade so we were never looking for somewhere to sit. Like everywhere else, the pool area was clean and well maintained, and was welcoming for children and adults (with an excellent poolside bar - try the Jamaican Punch). Alcohol is allowed poolside so long as there is no glass. On most days, a DJ played relaxing beach music from noon to four, and on some days, there was an additional DJ in the evening playing games, or an evening family luau. There is also easy access to the beach from the pool area, and foot wash stations to keep the sand out. The hotel is quite central - easily walk to a wide range of restaurants (fast food and sit down) and shops (beach wear, liquor, candy, donuts, ice cream, groceries etc) within a 1 mile radius. For breakfast, I would highly recommend John's Restaurant (directly across Ocean Blvd and owned by the Dayton House), which has excellent food (and a great selection - try a chocolate chip waffle with ice cream), a great staff (thanks to Patti our regular server, and the very friendly manager, who I believe was named Garrick), and a 10% discount for Dayton House guests. They offer great lunch options as well from 11am-2 pm (like their clubhouse - a must try). Other excellent choices for lunch and dinner include Pier 14 (which you can access from the beach by walking towards the Ferris Wheel - recommendations include their Classic Salad with either chicken or fresh grilled Ahi Tuna, and the Massive Fish Sandwich), and Cafe Old Vienna. Quick uber rides (>10 minutes) will get you to great local attractions like Broadway at the Beach - usually between $6-$8. All in all, we had a great experience and would highly recommend The Dayton House to anyone travelling to Myrtle Beach!
