"Worst Hilton Yet"

I stayed here with my fiance in August and called ahead to see if we can check in early because our flight landed earlier. The lady said that would be no problem so we get there at noon and the front desk lady said we would have to wait until 3pm. I paid extra to have the room cleaned faster but we still didn't get in until 3:30. I let it go. We were planning on staying for 3 nights. I used my points on the first night and paid for the last two nights. When checking in the lady messed up and charged me for all three nights and took my points. She said that I would get my points back after checking out. Upon checking out this did not happen and I have been calling them since then and no one answers my phone call or returns my calls. I keep being told to call back. It's been two months and I still have no heard back from the manager Eileen or anyone else. Even there main phone number takes you to the Hilton main central not the hotel directly. Absolute worst service I have ever experienced from Hilton. My company is upgrading me to a platinum corporate card and I will make sure I switch to Marriot or Hyatt because clearly Hilton does not value their customers. I have been hung up on over 5 times and ignored for two months. No problem though Hilton just lost two customers and I will definitely share this with my company.

Huge Hotel right on the beach Very quite area; not near any action. Still going under rehab since the last Hurricane. Our room was a great size with a view of the pool & tube floating area; plus we could see the ocean. Little patio to sit out & have coffee. Didn't like the set up of the sink area being in the area of the beds; should have been in with the toilet & bath tub. Nice quite area if that's what you're looking for.

We were here for a long weekend and a visit to Hilton timeshare as we were considering a purchase. Well, that didn't happen. We were guaranteed a certain resort and they lied to us. That is not the fault of the Doubletree, so we did not hold that against them. Upon check in, we were told the only room we could have is a 1st floor, but could upgrade for more money. As HH members, that should be a given if all your rooms are not sold. This is the first hotel I have stayed at that could not get any cell service, if that is important, beware. Even on wi-fi, had a full day that we could not get a signal. All staff we came in contact with were pleasant, but no one went above or beyond. All seemed flat with their responses, made me think they did not like their jobs. Sunday, we were in and out of the room, going to breakfast, the beach, dinner. Our room was never touched. AT no point during the day did we have the do not disturb sign on. When we returned at 6:30, I called down to the front desk. They sent a gentleman with towels and he handed me a roll of plastic bags for the trash containers. He took our used towels and trash. Hilton has a policy if things are not right, we will make them right. Well that didn't happen. On checkout, my husband said something to the front clerk (Dequan-sp?) about our room not being touched, who said oh. Doubletree, you missed this one, will not stay again. I prefer to stay somewhere where customer service is a goal of management.

"Totally Missed the Mark"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5
Reviewed October 14, 2018 NEW
First, I'll start by saying this is a very beautiful property in a prime location in South Myrtle Beach. Hilon missed the mark this time. First, the pre-room selection is a joke. I selected the exact room I wanted to stay in about 4 days prior to my stay. The day of check in, I kept trying to select my digital key, but kept getting an error. When I checked in, the front desk clerk acknowledged that I had done online check in, but it wasn't until we carried our bags up to the room I had selected that I realized she wrote down a totally different room number! When I checked in online, I had also requested extra towels and extra pillows. Neither were in our room. Lastly, the shower. I could have gotten a better shower by standing in the sink. The water pressure in room 597 was so low, I had to rinse the soap off my body in sections at a time. My husband said he thought it was like the shower was peeing on him. Absolutely ridiculous. I used all of my points to book this room. This was one of my worst experiences with the Hilton brand!

"Disappointed Hilton Gold Member"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed October 13, 2018 NEW
As a Hilton Gold member, I had several choice of hotels in the area to stay at which offer perks for members. I choose to stay at this location based on other Gold member reviews. I reserved a double queen with ocean view room. Upon check in they offered me and “upgrade to a suite for $50” additional for each night. The guest services personnel upsold this room as a suite with a living room. Having stayed at other Hilton properties throughout the world I decided this might be a good option and upgraded. Upon arrival at the room we promptly reverted back to our original reservation and moved to a double queen room “with ocean view.” The suite had a king bed, full size fridge and I would a-liken the living room to a man cave - basic low quality furniture that I guess they would expect to get ruined by the steady stream of partiers at the hotel. They put us in the Live Oak building on the far side which gave us only a partial ocean view and since the building is “U” shaped, we were in full view of all the guests on the other side of the building. *Note that this is not ideal is you are here for a relaxing evening, as plenty of guests are on the balconies partying or have their curtains open wide offering a full view of everything that is going on... I MEAN EVERYTHING! The following day after we had breakfast we noticed a building, “The Palmetto” to the right of check in that had full views of the ocean, and did not have the same full view the other guests. I asked the front desk about this building and moved again. They only had second floor available (claiming they were fully booked) and also stated that this building should have been my original reservation. Please also note that this is low season and the pool was completely empty at noon which made me feel like since I requested to move they gave me the least desirable room to move (they said they were full but I have my serious doubts about this). Bottom line: This is the lower end of Hilton properties - the property itself is nice, the grounds are well manicured, the pool is clean and the hotel staff are friendly and hospitable. However, you will not be blown over by Hilton Gold status like you would if you stayed at the Hilton Jumeriah Beach in Dubai (which I highly recommend).
