"Great location - just don't get burned"

The location to the beach and the access to the pool areas made it extremely easy to keep an eye on my son (14 years old so capable of hanging with his friends at the pool). But for some reason we did not have any cold water on Saturday - leaving us unable to shower. Notified the front desk - we were told maintenance would come up, no one showed. Still unable to use our own facilities Saturday night or Sunday - thankful for friends in other rooms that allowed us to use their shower. Still waiting on manager to return my call. 24 hours later...

Breakers Resort: A needed break from everyday in and outs. Our small vaycay was very energizing refreshing and exhilarating. We were welcomed and treated with kindness. Our room was exceptionally nice. The view was breathtaking. We came home and within one hours time we were ready to go back. Thank you to all the staff at Breakers who made this a wonderful trip. We will see you soon.

"Great For Families on a Budget - Dual Personality Hotel"

I tend to seek out Brittan hotels, and have stayed at others in the area with really good experiences in the past. Visited recently with 5 young kids and 5 adults. Weather was excellent, and our time was really enjoyed by all. There are a few quirks to this place, but for the most part it's really a great place to stay for families. The Good- The pools are wonderful for kids. The kids loved the submarine, waterslide, and kiddie water play area that our room overlooked. While the lazy river was apparently meant for adults, it was also a bit hit with seemingly all the kids in the resort. They loved floating around and moving with the mechanical tide. Adults liked the hot tub a lot, and there was ample space for them to get time in there even on a busy spring break weekend. Breakfast was awesome. We had vouchers for the entire trip for our whole family and it was really a cut above most free breakfasts in the area. The manager gave us a large table so to accommodate our big group and little kids, and had one reserved for us the next day when we came down. The wait staff was super nice and attentive as well. This alone would probably convince me to come back. Starbucks is really nice. I spend a lot of time at Starbucks across the country, and this was one of the better ones I've been to. Prices seemed a bit inflated, but nothing more than you'd expect to see at the beach. Beach is right in front of the hotel and they have these neat foot washing devices that are absolutely genius. They wash all the sand off your feet with a strong mist once you stand on them. The kids loved these too. Plenty of stuff to do at the resort when it rains. Free DVD's looked great, and the arcade looked small but adequate for most kids. The Not So Good- Rooms were small. Housekeeping seemed to be overwhelmed. We ran out of towels and pillows several times. Others in the hotel seemed to have the same problem. Wifi drops a lot which causes phone batteries to drain quick. At another Brittan property I noticed a circular device mounted on the wall that seemed to give the wifi at that property a huge boost - faster than my home office. This one was not that! Very spotty. Walls were thin both inside the 'apartment' and outside the room. There was a huge light outside our room that shined through the curtains making it feel like daytime 24/7. I now know what it's like trying to sleep in Alaska during the summer. Bathroom was tiny. Furniture dated. Kitchenette barely deserved the title - very small packed in a hallway between rooms. Parking very tight in the garage - though it was on the same floor of the room which made it nice. The Dual Personality- Spending time sipping on coffee sitting on the high end patio furniture outside of Starbucks in front of the gas fire pit, or looking at Martin's dinner menu prices, you'd think this was a five star resort. Watching kids smile as they play on the awesome slide and submarine would have you think the same as well. But you're brought down to earth when you go to your room, or run out of towels and have to wait an hour, or find yourself trying to perfect parking in a space that's as narrow as your car itself. We had fun staying at Long Bay in the way you'd have fun camping. There might be things that go wrong, but if you can laugh it off, and give the management the same type of leeway you'd want if the tables were turned, then it's worth the money. I write this not to be overly critical. We loved our time there, and found it to be a super value when you price out the cost of going to the waterpark elsewhere, paying for breakfast for 10 people, finding time to go to Starbucks elsewhere, etc. It really is a good resort. But with some refurbishment to rooms and added staff it could be great. Overall if you have your expectations in check this is a wonderful place to stay.

"Long Bay Disappoints Longtime Visitor"

After visiting Long Bay Resort for (15) years my visit last week may be my last due to almost non existent room service, excessive lines at the front desk, rooms not available when promised, and the refusal of management to act upon a dangerous system. A full gallon of milk was thrown from a room on the 16th into the pool just missing kids, management repeatedly refused to act stating there was nothing they could do. Eventually several guests called the police who were able to help. Water was completely shut off to my rental condo while showers were being taken for an extended time. Several calls to the front desk from the room phone went unanswered. I understand that sometimes maintenance is needed but advance notification or at least an explanation from the front desk would have been nice. The first day of our stay there were late night wild parties and it was tough to sleep with kids.

Spent a few days attending a destination wedding. The rooms are spacious (Balcony/LR/kitchenette/bath and bedroom) and are clean if not luxurious. There are a great number of families with children and the pool area(s) can get congested and loud. This is a great place for a family (with children) vacation spot. Numerous pools and activities abound.
