"Spring Break"
April, 2018 NEW
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights over Spring Break. It’s located about 1/2 mile from the beach and maybe a mile from Broadway at the Beach. The location isn’t bad at all. The hotel isn’t brand new and definitely has some wear and tear in the rooms. Our room was clean upon arrival. The bathroom didn’t have an exhaust fan, so every time we took a shower, the bathroom steamed up. The worst part about the hotel was the parking. The hotel has a 6 story, very compact parking garage. It’s sometimes difficult to navigate when other cars are coming.

This hotel was absolutely perfect for our winter get away. The rooms offer amble space and are super clean. We could see even the ocean from our window. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely use this hotel again when at the beach.

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The room was very clean and well kept but the walls were pretty thin you could hear just about everything. The hotel itself was close to everything we wanted to do .

Passing thru Myrtle Beach I happened to play roulette and at the last minute booked a stay at the Sheraton. The property is bright and popping with shiny floors and great lighting. Everyone from the check in staff to the servers were teeming with southern charm. I missed breakfast but I believe it was a mix of buffet style and some ala carte dishes. I did manage to snag lunch and was delighted by the quickness and taste of their Carolina BBQ Pork sandwich. I think it mightve been out in less than five minutes. The waitress poured me a drink of some really good pink lemonade. And rather than continue come back for refills she left a pretty pitcher filled with the drink on my table for self-pour. I really liked that. After paying for my meal I talked to a really nice manager named Susan about the property and she was extremely gracious and charming. The room was pleasant with a nice view and I even managed to stroll around the outside of the property which is well maintained. Susan and the nice woman at the concierge on Saturday morning Apr 21 provided great service. Will be back.

The company we had booked with used another hotel in the area-but I changed to the Sheraton due to reviews.............wish I had kept to recommended hotel. Hotel was a disappointment in itself-rooms tired. One day room not serviced-and had to call to get towels etc. The location was fine, as we had car parking attached and was handy when travelling to golf courses in the area. The bar staff were lovely-food average and only persons who excelled in customer service was Dottie who recommended restaurants and the concierge was very helpful. We did not have breakfast or dinner at location. Was not the same as a Sheraton in the UK.

I am not a complainer. You can look through tons of my reviews and not see any one star reviews. This is truly the worst experience I have had at a hotel. My daughter and I checked in for a Cheerleading competition. My daughter needed to get into the room to get ready for her competition. Upon check-in my key did not work. I went down to front desk. Apologetically, they gave me another key. That one did not work. I told them it may be the battery. They changed the battery. Still did not work. Up and down 4 more times and finally they realized that it needed initialized. It was really frustrating and inconvenient. I told the Manager, Hana, about the issue and she offered 3,000 star points for my trouble. I would have rather not have spent the half hour getting in the room, but a nice offer. 4AM in the morning my daughter went to the bathroom and came petrified because she saw roaches. I tried calming her and ensuring her they were not going to be out in the room where we were. She rolled around and told me she was still anxious. I kept talking to her and reassuring her until she went to sleep. She had a Cheerleading competition and the interrupted sleep and anxiousness was not good. So, considering the compounded issues, I went downstairs to talk to the Manager HANA. I told her about the situation with the roaches. She immediately said "do you have pictures??". Uh, no...Roaches scatter when the light comes on and there was nothing to take pictures of. She then said "I need to go up to see myself". Again, I reminded Hana that cockroaches scatter into the walls when the lights are on so there would likely be nothing to see. Her demeanor was defensive and questioning. I asked her if she needed to talk to my daughter since she apparently did not believe her. She continued to be rude and defiant. I told her that it appeared she was calling my daughter a liar and asked if she would like to talk to my daughter directly? She again was short and defensive. When I saw things were going south, I told her I was done and walked away. I walked to get my daughter and take her to breakfast, HANA followed me to the elevators. She tapped my shoulder and then put her hand on my chest and blocked me from the elevator. She tried walking back her actions and tried to tell me she was saying those things because she wanted Orkin to come out. It was silly. I asked her to leave so I could go to breakfast and she kept going. This was in front of my daughter and several other guests. My daughter was upset and wondering what was going on. My daugther cried and was embarrassed. Yes, I was not happy that she was defensive and questioned my daughters integrity, but I was big enough to recognize it was getting heated and walked away. The Manager HANA chased me and embarrassed me and my daughter in front of other guests. She should have just let me walk away. It was amazingly inappropriate for her to chase me down and confront me. It ruined the morning for my daughter and I. I simply was trying to let her know I had a poor experience. I want a smooth experience when I stay at a SPG property. I don't want headaches and issues. I only complained because it was 2 days worth of issues. I was made to feel horrible for bringing it up. Outside of all that, the hotel is dated and the rooms are worn. Needs updated. The bar is nice and the bartenders friendly, just very slow. The front desk folks were very nice and seemed genuinely concerned! It was just HANA that was an issue. The location is a block from the beach and close to Broadway at the Beach. If you do not care to be directly on the beach, this place is located in a great area. I am sure that everyone will not have the experience I did, but there are much better values on the beach with much better service.

I booked as a SPG Gold for a three day two night stay during a mini family vacay Check-in; EXCELLENT I actually arrived to Myrtle beach earlier than expected (about 6 hours ahead of the normal check-in time), and I really needed to unload our luggage so we could get to the 'beach stuff'. So I went to the front desk and asked about the possibility of an early check-in. I was told that my room wasn't ready yet (which is what I expected them to say), but they would call me when it was ready (which was something that I did not expect to hear). So I left the lobby and decided to cruise the town; my cruise did not last long because I did receive a call just 35 minutes later! ....that was clutch for me! Room: GOOD I had a Junior Suite (King + sofa bed + balcony). The room was a decent size, and the balcony was better than expected. This balcony was large enough to hold a poker game! The views were also great. This room almost deserves an 'excellent' rating from the balcony alone! AMENITIES: VERY GOOD I didn't rate enough to take a peek at the Sheraton Lounge, but they had what I considered to be 'better-than-usual' basic amenities! (bar w/food w/lounge, starbucks coffee section, gift shop, area to sun bathe, large indoor pool, and exercise room. The size of the indoor pool and exercise room is what really stood out to me. I believe I saw 8-10 elliptical/bike/stair step machines. * Parking: key-enabled self-parking garage. NOTE - The Parking Garage does not have entry into the hotel! So if you park on level 6 you need to go stairs/elevator to ground level, enter thru lobby, and then take the elevator to your room. Because of this, you need to take serious consideration in parking on the lower levels as much as necessary. * Hotel Elevators: UNSATISFACTORY - Two of the four hotel elevators were not functioning properly...not functioning properly in this context means PEOPLE WERE ACTUALLY EITHER STUCK ON THE ELEVATOR OR STUCK ON THEIR FLOOR. I believe this hotel has 13 floors. I stayed on the 8th floor and got very annoyed with this, I can't imagine what the folks on 12th floor were going through. I truly believe that this was a temporary situation, and the problem has probably been rectified. LOCATION: EXCELLENT BEST LOCATION IN TOWN! Not just for those who are attending an event at the Convention Center (which is basically connected to the Hotel), but you are an eight minute walk from the Beach, miniature gold, myrtle beach 'stuff', and 5 minute walk from amazing restaurants, like SoHo!! Most may say that if you are not staying at one of the beachfront hotels/suites/high-rises then you don't have an excellent location. I disagree because there will be times when you want to do something other than hang out at the beach, so adding a little more flexibility in your lodging location is not a bad thing. PARKING: BELOW AVERAGE Parking is not very plentiful during peak times at Myrtle Beach, so whenever you can secure 'free parking' at your Hotel it is very much worth it. Check-out: AVERAGE This is probably more of a SPG thing than a Sheraton thing, but using online check-out can save you time
