"Great hotel for long term stays"

Our son was playing in a baseball tournament at Cal Ripken and we needed somewhere to stay for a week. After an extensive search for hotels that had kitchens AND allowed pets, Staybridge was the only one I could find. It turns out I was the lucky one! Staybridge was everything it advertised. The rooms were very comfortable and had the full kitchen I was looking for. We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite. It was big enough for 5 adult sized people and a dog (and all of our stuff!) . Some of the pluses of this hotel is the breakfast - great selection of food and a very large area to accommodate all of the hotel guests. The pool and outdoor area is great. Very pretty with a ton of seating. Large enough for everyone who wanted to utilize the area. There is laundry (washers and dryers) that is FREE for guests. Just bring your own detergent! The wi-fi worked great. My only cons are: the fitness area is greatly lacking. There are only 3 pieces of equipment and they are very old. The fitness is connected to the laundry area and it was uncomfortable at times when people were doing their laundry and staring at me working out. For a long term type hotel this should be more of a focus as business (and leisure) travelers work out and do so when away from home. The other is the hallways and stairways. The carpet is quite worn and dirty. I was quite concerned when we were checking in because that was my first impression. However, the rooms were much better than the exterior (much to my delight!). Also, I should mention for those that are reading this because you are looking for accommodations because your son or daughter is playing at the Cal Ripken Experience. The hotel is 7 minutes from Cal Ripken. It is so close and convenient!!! All of our other team member families stayed on the water and had to travel 20-30 minutes to the field AND they paid double and triple per night that we paid. We went to the boardwalk/beach area daily so we didn't miss any of that experience. Also, there are all of the shopping conveniences very close to the hotel (grocery, pharmacy, etc) for all of the things you end up needing when away from home for a week.

Our son was training for 4 months and his employer booked this hotel for us for 3 nights. As a travel consultant I was very pleased with the quality of our stay. The rooms are clean with plenty of space and come with fully equipped kitchens. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They offer a free happy hour 3 nights a week, Mon - Fri and the breakfast was excellent, hot and full of variety. Location is within 30 minutes of the beach and many of the attractions that make Myrtle Beach a great place to visit. We will absolutely stay here again.

Stayed here one night for a concert that was at the Boathouse just down the road. The hotel is right across the street from what appears to be an abandoned shopping mall and there aren't many other businesses in the area unless your reason for visiting the area is to go to the Medieval Times dinner show. The hotel was clean and the queen suite had a mini kitchen in it which is a good thing if you're going to stay for several days since there's really no eateries in the area except for the overpriced and mediocre food at the Boathouse. Speaking of food, the breakfast was the reason which kept this hotel from getting a 5. The selection was poor and the wife and I expected more from a higher level IHG hotel like a Staybridge. So, overall, it was a very good hotel for a one night stay if you have business to do in the area or are going to Medieval Times. Otherwise, you may be paying too much to be isolated in a rundown area which will require you to travel over the bridge to find some decent eateries and activities to do. As some have mentioned, a vehicle is a must if you stay here and want to explore what Myrtle Beach has to offer.

I booked this hotel on Priceline as the "express deal". The hotel itself was great! Clean and had great breakfast! HOWEVER, when I went to check out I was accidentally shown a receipt that showed my room price and I learned that by booking on Priceline and not through hotel I paid $30 more per night!! This was suppose to be Priceline's deal!! When I called Priceline to complain, I was told that they would not do anything because they do not price guarantee the express deals. When I questioned how this could be a deal when it's $30 more than the actual price the hotel charges they could not answer the question but told me there was no way to reimburse me and that no manger would be able to help me. I will NEVER book through Priceline again!! I hate to give this hotel a poor review due to Priceline, but it upsets me that a hotel would go with a company that rips people off! Why should I pay more then the person staying next door. I understand a fee for using the site but $30 is a bit much.

The three story property has a large lobby reception area that seconds as the breakfast area 7 days a week and dinner area except weekends. The breakfast is better than most and you are sure to find something for every taste. The rooms are the best part with as you enter a breakfast bar to the right separating the full kitchen with a sink, full size refrigerator, dish washer and microwave. On the left is a large size work station. The room continues to a living area with queen size pull-out couch, end cubes and a LG flat screen TV with cable. A door separates the very comfortable king size bedroom. The sink are of the bathroom is a continuation of the bedroom with a door separating the toilet and full size tub. We found this area a little cramped because the door swings in. Now for the bad news. Although our room had a view of the pool, basket ball court and duck pond the hotel is located in the middle of a deserted area. The mall across the street is abandoned and the other large shopping area is boarded up and fenced. Even the fast food restaurant was vacated. The area is depressing.
