My fiancee and I stayed here for our first time in May 2018. We normally stay in Garden City and rent a condo but since we were only going to be here for a few days we decided to give this place a try. The reviews were good and I must say we were not disappointed. The front desk staff were all friendly and very helpful. Check in was quick and we got a room on the top floor (floor 8). It was facing the south which had a view of the ocean and a view of the pool area down below. One thing to note about this hotel is that none of the rooms are directly facing the ocean. They all face to the North or South and give you a view of the ocean. if you are facing north you get to see the Surfside Pier and if you are facing South you see the pool area and Scotty's Beach bar next door. This hotel has been recently renovated. We were in room 808 and everything looks pretty new. The floors are all non-carpeted which I really liked and in all the hallways and even our room are pictures and art of how the beach used to look many years ago. It's like a history walk as you go through the hotel. Our room had everything we needed including a min-fridge, microwave, and a pretty large safe (big enough for a large laptop). The flat screen TV was on the wall above the cabinet that contained the microwave and fridge. We had a king bed that slept pretty good. Beside the bed was a larger chair to sit in and then we had a small table with two chairs. In this room the sink is separate from the toilet and shower. I assume all of them are like this. There was a luggage rack and a place to hang your clothes. The lamps on either side of the bed had AC plugs for your phones and electronics. Also there was a lamp under the TV that had a USB port and AC plug. One of the side tables beside the bed had a clock/radio that had a dock for your phone. The balcony on these rooms are very small and narrow. It's barely enough room for one person. There were two chairs sitting on the balcony and they would only face one way (face each other) due to how narrow it was. This was my biggest disappointment at this hotel. If the balconies were just a tad larger this place would be perfect. This however did not stop me from booking again for late summer because everything else was so wonderful. The lobby of this hotel is on the second floor. It is very clean and newly updated. On this floor is an area with tables and some couches where you can sit and relax. They have drinks, snacks, candy, and even some T-Shirts, etc. for sale in their "marketplace". You take what you want and then scan it as this kiosk and pay with your credit card. They also have a Starbucks coffee machine where you can buy coffee but they also had a free coffee station near the elevators so I took advantage of that. The coffee was pretty good. One time when they were out of coffee the front-desk staff brewed me a fresh pot. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The elevators worked well and we normally didn't have to wait long to get up or down. There is parking on either side of the hotel and even some spaces on the ground floor inside the hotel. The inside was reserved for motorcycles since it was bike week but we never had an issue finding a parking space. Even when we arrived late on Saturday night we were able to park okay. They said they have enough spaces for each room to have a space so that is good. The pool area is very nice. The hotel provides towels which was a nice plus. There are lounge chairs round the pool and the pool was very nice. It's about 5 feet deep on the deepest end. They also had a handicap lift which I was impressed to see. Pool access is controlled with your key card as well as the pool bathroom. Access to the beach is good also. As far as the room goes the shower tub was good. The water pressure was adequate and we had no issues with having plenty of hot water. Within the shower tub they have pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash affixed to the wall. (you can't remove them as they are locked to the wall). I don't recall ever seen this before in the U.S. I have seen it in Europe. The WiFi worked well here and even outside of the hotel it worked okay. There were no issues noted when using it. One of the big pluses at this hotel is it's location. On the north side of the hotel there is a River City Cafe on the beach front. We ate here our first night and were able to sit out on the front deck by the ocean. Also on this side of the hotel is the SurfSide pier. They have a souvenir shop, ice cream shop, and a diner. We had ice cream one night which was a great treat and we had breakfast at the diner on our last day. The diner was quiet busy but service was good and the food was good. On the South side of the hotel is Scott's beach bar. We visited twice. On our first night (Saturday) they had Karaoke. The crowd was pretty lively and the bar tenders were good and friendly. Drinks were also good. On Sunday we didn't visit the bar but we could hear the band playing cover tunes from our room. It was nice sitting on the balcony watching the surf and listening to the band. On Monday evening we went back and had some drinks after supper. Across the street from the hotel is Bubba's Fish Shack and the another bar and grill (I don't remember the name but it says Bar and Grill on the front). We had supper at Bubba's one night and the food was fair but we liked River City Cafe better. We never made it to the other bar and grill. We plan to try that one on our next visit. What we loved about this hotel's location was that we could walk to all these different restaurants without having to drive anywhere. We could just leave our car parked. It was very convenient. I think this covers everything I can think of about this hotel. We were very impressed with the friendly staff, and awesome location. Like I said earlier we have already reserved this for late Summer this year for a week. Unless you need a large balcony or a room with a kitchen I would definitely recommend this hotel. Be sure to check out my photos and if you have a specific question do not hesitate to contact me.

We only stayed one night, however, we chose a balcony room. The balcony was small but the view from it was great. I was glad I chose the balcony because I was able to not only see the waves and water, but could hear the ocean noises also. The room was nice and clean. The staff friendly and accommodating.

Our room, 805, needed repairs to the curtain. The balcony is too small to do anything other then take pics from.. The bed was way too soft and worn. The hotel has know on site restaurant, and $25 for use of an umbrella and chairs is a ripoff.. The staff was friendly, and the hotel was clean, but needs a make over...

The hotel is wonderfully located between small beach houses right next to the pier. The room was large with a small balcony and a beautiful sea view. You could see the sunrise from the bed. We were also able to attend a beach wedding pretty much, where do you have that? We will gladly come again.
