Surfside is great for families. Direct beach access from the back of the hotel, ocean views & quiet nights. Free daily pier access where your sure to spot a shark, jellyfish or other aquatic life. Variety of vending items, drinks and coffee. Nice pool/hot tub area. Pool isn't heated. Rooms aren't spectacular but you're not there to sit in the room. Balconies are nice for evening sitting. Located in the center of restaurants, bars, ice cream and beach. You won't want to leave.
have used this facility for YEARS. love the upgrades in rooms, exterior, décor. always a great staff who really try to address needs and information. lovely décor. love general locale. nice things to do in walking distance. always seems quieter, out of way type place where seniors and families feel safe and welcome. my adult children and almost grown grandsons look at the place as our 2nd home where we have MANY pleasant memories.from many trips there.

We were extremely pleased with the facility. Loved the upgrades with the remodel.beds were very comfortable. Staff was pleasant. Weather was perfect. Excellent restaurants and bars within walking distance. We can't wait to come again!
After reading endless reviews on Trip Advisor concerning the area in South Carolina that we were interested in visiting, we stumbled upon Surfside Beach and all the positive accolades. I must say, after spending a fantastic week there recently, we were able to check off all the boxes on our wish list. First of all, it wasn't Myrtle Beach and that was important to us. It was refreshing to look in both directions on the beach and be the only hotel there with colourful, new looking vacation rentals lining the beach instead. The hotel itself was clean, clean, clean and well cared for by all the service workers that we encountered on a daily basis. Everyone greeted us with a smile and a greeting. We loved the sepia toned vintage photos everywhere - lots of nostalgia. Front desk staff and especially Bill Miller were always helpful. Rooms/beds were well appointed and super comfortable - we were on the 8th floor pier side (odd numbers were pier side facing northeast with a wonderful view of the sunrise and Myrtle Beach "way" off in the distance). If you are the least bit leery of heights, then the 8th floor and size of the balconies might not be for you..the width of the balcony is not much wider than the chairs. The beach was a real draw for us as we spent all our days there. Parking was so close by that we were able to leave our chairs, towels etc. in the car and not have to haul it up to our room each day. The proximity to the pier was a huge bonus. What a fascinating spot to watch the fisherman and various sea life around the pylons. The Surfside Diner at the beginning of the pier was our "go-to" restaurant for breakfast and lunch.....reasonable prices, lots of variety, inside/outside dining, and endless delicious flounder fingers - loved the friendly staff and welcoming hospitality. Bubba's Restaurant across the street had our required seafood on their menus - great atmosphere and people here as well. Nice to have choices so close by. The only nagging complaint that I have concerns the early wake up call. While I applaud the efforts of the town of Surfside to keep their streets and common areas so clean, street sweepers and cleaners starting at the ridiculous hour of 4 or 5 a.m. is a bit much. On 3 of the 5 mornings we were awakened by the droning sounds of the truck followed by the back up beeping.....we had chosen to keep our patio door open to sleep with the sound of the ocean surf, a perfect "white noise". Nothing ruins that ambiance faster than the street sweeper who sometimes took up to 45 minutes in the area. Would we again drive the almost 17 hours from Canada to Surfside Beach ? Yes, in a heartbeat.......ear plugs included :)
