from The Carolina Opry
If you only see one show, this is the one! The Carolina Opry has won every major South Carolina tourism award including Most Outstanding Attraction and the prestigious Governor's Cup. Year after year, The Carolina Opry is voted the Best Show by readers of the Myrtle Beach Sun News, a Knight-Ridder newspaper. And it's the only show that has been featured on NBC Nightly News, CNN, TNN, and USA Today, which called it "A Big Hit.” The New York Post called it "A Hot Ticket.”

Entertainer and entrepreneur Calvin Gilmore launched The Carolina Opry on South Carolina's Grand Strand in 1986. His live music variety show features a cast of 36 of the nation's top singers, dancers, comedians and musicians in its own 2200-seat show palace with state-of-the-art sound and lighting and three giant video screens. The show, which is continually updated with new music and comedy, is two hours of high energy entertainment that blends humor and dancing with everything from rock 'n roll, Broadway, and country to classic hits, pop melodies and gospel. Young and old are counted among its fans who are sure to include a performance in their visit to Myrtle Beach.

In November and December, the theater is transformed into a winter wonderland where the magic of the season comes alive in The Carolina Opry Christmas Special a wonderfully dazzling, jolly and sentimental musical celebration of America's best-loved holiday.

"Pure Magic is purely magical!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

We literally have been to over 100 magic shows over the years, ranging from Copperfield to our 13 year old son. We are so glad that the Gilmore family has brought a real magic show to Myrtle Beach. They didn't have to look far as Brandon and Hannah Wagster have been fan favorite fixtures in a number of other productions at the Carolina Opry as well as their own local performances at resorts, libraries and schools. This full out Magic spectacular is over an hour of grand illusions, sleight of hand, comedy and inspiration. I don't want to spoil the show for those who read this, but the show starts with a surprising production of his assistant, and ends with this talented duo combining in an amazing finale. Everything in the middle will keep you scratching your head and your mouth open in astonishment. There is a fair amount of audience participation for young and old too! You will understand once you begin to experience their well choreagraphed routines, why this young married couple have kept Grand Strand audiences excited for years and why they have found a home at The Opry. After the show they make time for photos, autographs and questions (just don't ask them, how they did it :) ).

My husband and I recently moved to Myrtle Beach after visiting many years with our girls. There is so much to do. The Christmas Show at the Carolina Opry was better the the Christmas Rockettes in New York City.

"Rainy Day Surprise"

It was one of those days, no golf and no beach. What to do? The last place I wanted to do was to go to "The Opry". Okay, I did and I'm glad I did. As a matter of fact I went to both shows, TCO and Time Warp, being offered during our visit. I highly recommend both of these shows to bring you back to memory lane and for just some good ol' entertainment from the heart. Glad I went and will stop in again when I return.

Really loved the show at the Carolina Opry. Performers are outstanding and full of energy. Acts move along at a very fast pace. Costumes and sets are top of the line. Seating is very comfortable-seat cushioning is soft and aisles are wide. Would definitely go again.

"Worst Christmas show"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed January 03, 2018 NEW
An amature show at best. Very poor coordination of a show . A horrible comedian . We walked out at half time. The show was a mishmash of singing and dancing, though , thought to be in the Christmas spirit. The 5 clogging dancers from , America's Got Talent were great, when it came to them dancing as a group , but when they paired them off with female Partners they were absolutely horrendous. Many of the singers were totally off key and the orchestra was much too loud, overshadowing and drowning out the singer's. The solo pianist was good, but he was over flamboyant and full of himself. It's amazing to me how much money people will pay to see a really lousy show it's a shame.
