August, 2016
Our family has been to the New Orleans HB Gospel Brunch and it was wonderful, high energy and lively. I booked the Gospel Brunch based on our previous experience and was very disappointed! The music was fine but their was not energy in the wasn't lively at all. My husband said he almost fell asleep! Go to the Murder Mystery Dinner instead!

"very disappointed"
February, 2015
This was my third time visiting the House of Blues. I enjoyed it so much last year my husband and I decided we HAD to come again... however this will be the last time.. we made reservations a week in advance and was told we HAD to be there by 9:30 because of the crowd. When we arrived there were only 20 people. ( if that ) We were seated away from the entertainment in the atrium, where it was extremely cold! I asked the waitress about moving us to another seat and she assured me that I would warm up... I remained in my coat and gloves the entire time... did I mention the place was empty! Brunch was just ok.. It was not worth the $80.00 that was spent..

"First -and very definitely last- time at HoB."
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed January 14, 2018 NEW
I believe the title of my (unusually lengthy) review speaks for itself, and please note that in over 7 years with TripAdvisor, I have only EVER given one Terrible review before. We went to the HoB for a tribute band concert and were extremely disappointed with almost every aspect of the experience. While it's not entirely the fault of the HoB, getting tickets to the show was constantly problematic, with TicketMaster throwing up roadblocks at just about every step. We did eventually sort it out. The concert was advertised as "Doors open 7:30 and Show at 8:00 PM" so we arrived at 7 PM and got into the (already long) line. Clearly, we weren't from around here and we didn't know the drill. After we cleared security (didn't know about that one either...) and entered the facility, we discovered that General Admission tickets didn't come with a seat. Well, well: yet another discovery to us. We are both Veterans with disabilities (very bad knees) so we asked about seats. None were available, and we understood that so late in the game, but it sure would have been nice to know beforehand. I'd likely have paid for a seat, but read on: I'm now glad I didn't. I've been in a great many similar clubs in my time, but the drink prices at the HoB are positively eye-watering. I do realize that folks need to make money, but a 500% markup on a can of Bud Light is a bit over the top. At 8 PM, a brave young man with a guitar and sound loop rig appeared onstage and proceeded to try to warm up the crowd. OK, HoB, this is another place where you missed the mark completely. I paid for a tribute band with a "show" at 8 PM. If I'd wanted to see local amateur talent, I'd absolutely go to a local bar or pub. This poor chap did his best for 45 minutes before he left the stage, but he was most assuredly out of his depth. By 9 PM, no show had begun and the place was so packed with people that it took me several minutes to thread my way to the toilet. When I returned, my wife pointed out that the venue was likely over the fire department capacity and was quite concerned in case we had to exit the place. Our knees were both done for, so we left the HoB without hearing a single note of the tribute band. We lost our money, but I treat it as a learning experience. As we exited, she mentioned to a Staff member that the place was very full; he agreed heartily and replied, "It's a good thing we have some leeway so we can really fill it up." Ah, I see. Major fail. We will NOT return to this place under any circumstances and will so advise every one of our colleagues, acquaintances and fellow Veterans. Cross this one off your list, folks, cause it is NOT recommended.

Great food and good entertainment. Acoustics not the best so hard to understand the speakers and singers at times. Buffet was a real surprise with much better food than most buffets.

"Thanksgiving lunch was "just OK""
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed November 24, 2017
My first time going to House of Blues. Food was a buffet for Thanksgiving in an area that was supposedly "heated" with big heaters but wasn't really that warm in the area. Food was just okay. I've had much better for that price. It wasn't worth their price of $35, maybe worth about $19.95. The service was terrible. No drink refills at all. Had a duet of two men, one playing guitar and one playing electric piano. I was told they would be playing Christmas music but I never heard any. Thanksgiving dinner was a thumbs down for the food and service in my opinion.

"We saw Pandora Box, Aerosmith Tribute Band"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

Really impressed!!!! We reserved our seats before the show and were able to bypass the long line. We wondered how security would be handled and it was perfect. There was a male line and a female line. We were patted down and our items checked. It did slow the process, but we felt safe. Never in our wildest dreams did we ever think twice about security at this type of a venue, but times have changed and the extra time it took, gave us peace of mind. Thank you House of Blues! We paid extra for a bar seat and so glad we did. The seat was somewhat elevated and we had perfect seats. The wait staff was very efficient and keep us happy with our adult beverages. It was very crowded, but didn't feel uncomfortable. Everyone was respectful and was there to have a good time. And, a good time was had by all. Our only complaint was the 4 people sitting beside us did not have the wrist band showing they had paid for the seat. The were general admission. Maybe more checking would be good, but not a big deal to us. It didn't cost us anything for them to sit. We saw Pandora's Box, an Aerosmith tribute band. If you closed your eyes you would think it was Aerosmith. If you open your eyes if you use your imagination (just a bit) you might think a couple of them look like the younger version of Aerosmith. If this is any indication of the quality of entertainment at House of Blues we will return whenever we are in the area. The building is quite unique, parking very sufficient, and the employees friendly. Highly recommend.
