There are over 60 miles of coastline stretching across the Grand Strand.   Each section of beach has a different way for visitors to play. The southern sections offer a livelier atmosphere, while the northern sections are more peaceful. No matter where you decide to hit the beach you’re sure to have fun in the sun. Ride the waves on a boogie board, build a sandcastle or splash in the waves. There are plenty of watersport outfitters, beachside cafes and boardwalk attractions to keep you busy at the beach. The ocean is the main attraction in Myrtle Beach and best of all – it’s free!

Two of my favorite places to visit on the Grand Strand are Brookgreen Gardens and Murrell’s Inlet. At Brookgreen Gardens botanical gardens combine with sculptures to create a South Carolina treasure lauded as one of the Top Gardens in the United States by TripAdvisor. Murrell’s Inlet is a historic fishing village with a quaint, relaxing atmosphere. Take a stroll on the Marsh Walk, then stop in at one of the restaurants serving fresh seafood.

Shows in Myrtle Beach are one of a kind! Two of the best shows are The Carolina Opry and One the Show. Both shows are grand productions that place the spotlight on the supreme talent of the Grand Strand. A mix of country, today’s pop hits and dazzling dance moves make both shows standouts.  For family fun, look no further than Pirates Voyage. Watch as the Crimson and Sapphire crews battle it out on the high seas.

You can’t Myrtle Beach without visiting one of the Calabash seafood buffets. The Calabash name is inspired by a small town in North Carolina known so widely for its bountiful seafood harvest it has been dubbed “The Seafood Capital of the World.” Further, the name Calabash refers to a type of cooking in which seafood is lightly breaded and fried and typically served buffet style. I recommend The Original Benjamin’s and Bennett’s Calabash Seafood.  Of course, there are plenty of other Myrtle Beach restaurants to sample.  Indulge at Greg Norman’s Australian Grille, kick back with some brews at Liberty Tavern or try a more upscale approach to seafood at Sea Captain’s House.

Temperate conditions and abundant sunshine keep outdoor activities available year-round. You can always play at the beach, of course, as well as explore Myrtle Beach’s two state parks – Huntington Beach State Park and Myrtle Beach State Park. Discover the natural side of the Grand Strand with by hiking, biking and horseback riding. At the State Parks engaging and educational programs are also available, so you can learn about the flora and fauna around you. Fishing is another top outdoor activity in Myrtle Beach. Charter a fishing boat or opt to fish from a pier and see what you can reel in!

With the beach and an inviting natural landscape surrounding the Grand Strand, watersports are a popular pastime. Go on an exhilarating banana boat ride, take to the skies while parasailing or steer your own pleasure cruise aboard a jet ski. Vacationers also enjoy ocean kayaking or hit the back bays of the North Myrtle Beach area or Murrell’s Inlet.
